As some plants begin to feel the chill, some flourish! The cosmos and snapdragons are loving the cooler weather, the jasmine has become a delightful wall of Autumn red and the fatsia has put on a final spurt of growth before the winter weather sets in.
The first long-term investment I put into The Floral Chambers was the purchase of five different varieties of eucalyptus, a couple of each. I coppiced/pollarded each at the beginning of this season knowing that next year my hard work would begin to pay off - so excited to use these in our workshop designs!

Spotlight on our next workshop at the beautiful St Mary's Church of Birkin and Beal!
This wonderful church is such a gorgeous setting for a relaxed evening working with lots of fresh and lush greenery from The Flower Connection, with some carefully chosen focal flowers. It's also a warm space for the community to benefit from - the underfloor heating runs to ensure that a cosy place to make yourself a free warm drink is always available. I will be making a donation to the church as a 'thank you' for hosting and to ensure that their amazing work can continue.

A little to share this evening!
Here is the event poster for November’s two Greenery Centrepieces - with just around a month to go now is the time to book in. All of my workshops will now close for bookings 7 days before the event, I have a few new suppliers that need a little longer to get their gorgeous products over to me and my little studio, and having a choice means I can keep my prices low for as long as possible. A little different today, I wanted to show you the difference that a little bit of carefully chosen foliage can make to a vase arrangement!
These are just a few beauties from my Autumn garden, grown from seed and tuber, and they looked ever so sad when I had just picked them, drooping over the sides of the jug. I added a piece of variegated pittosporum and a sprig of rosemary to add support - it also meant that when I placed the flowers they stayed where I put them rather than being pulled in a different direction by their heavy heads. I will share the video of me arranging them soon!

🌿 N O V E M B E R 🌿
Tuesday 19th November, St Mary’s Church of Birkin and Beal, 7pm
Tuesday 26th November, the New Inn, Barlby, 7pm
In November we will create a beautiful centrepiece for the dining table or a sideboard, filled with stunning mixed foliage in glossy greens. This base will be very long-lasting, and providing that it is watered and cared for, will last well into December. We will add some carefully selected flowers, and they can be replaced nearer Christmas with something a little more festive, or the arrangement can be left just as a foliage-only piece.
The workshop will be the usual price of £25pp, and will include all of your materials.
Booking is now exclusively through my website - it does the admin work for me! Bookings will close 7 days before the event from now on, as this allows me to use a wider choice of suppliers to get the very best flowers and foliage.

🍁 Final call for booking onto the Autumn workshop on Sunday 13th at 1pm, Hambleton village hall, booking closes this evening. I will be demonstrating how to create a floral pumpkin and an Autumn wreath - you have the choice of which arrangement you will make, but you must let me know at the time of booking so I can order the right flowers and foliage for you. Some places still available on Tuesday 15th October, 7pm at The New Inn Barlby for floral pumpkins.

As promised, here are the Christmas wreath workshops! We will create gorgeous, large and full traditional wreaths using a range of beautiful winter foliage, and at the end you will have a choice of accessories to complete the look. Just £29 per person.
All workshops planned from now until Christmas are now available to browse on the website, including centrepieces in November at St. Mary’s in Birkin.

🍁 A U T U M N 🍂
Almost two weeks after it was made my Autumn wreath gives me a little happy glow every time I see it on my front door. The rose ‘pebble’ has almost had its day, but the cool and damp weather has helped it to last much longer than roses can be expected to live! The whole arrangement will last at least until it is time to put a pumpkin on the doorstep, and possibly until it is swapped for a Christmas wreath.

Hambleton Arrangers!
I would like your opinion as I plan our lovely Autumn and Winter workshops - if you are interested in coming to more at the village hall I would love to hear from you.
This first post is about an Autumn workshop which would be held on Sunday 13th October! The colours will be vibrant and joyful whichever option we go with 💐
Would you prefer to make an Autumn wreath/centrepiece, or a floral pumpkin?
And would you prefer a daytime event or an evening one?
The price would be my usual £25 per person - I always run my workshops as cost-effectively as possible without compromising the quality of the materials I provide.
If we have plenty of interest for both the Autumn wreaths and the pumpkins I can always do both in different sessions!

August’s creations!
We were so wrapped up in our arrangements in August that I didn’t take pictures until the very end - a few of our lovely creations are missing!
As we all brought different vessels and used a hidden chicken wire ‘pillow’ to support our fresh florals, each person’s work was unique. Great job ladies!

🍁 S E P T E M B E R 🍁
One of my favourite times of the year for the beauty of the colour palette and the sense of change to embrace, this month we will be creating stunning Autumn wreaths!
With a base of fresh foliage which will dry naturally as the arrangement ages, and long-lasting flower varieties, these should continue to look stunning when the arrangement is no longer ‘fresh’. And for those who love Autumn colour but think wreaths are strictly a Christmas item, I will also demonstrate and talk you through creating a centrepiece for indoors instead!
