🌟🐎 So incredibly proud of Beatrix! 🐎🌟
She gave it her all at the horse riding show and earned an amazing second-place finish in her age group. 🥈
Her love for horse riding shines through in every stride and jump, and it’s a joy to see her passion grow. 🥰
Keep chasing those dreams, Beatrix! 🌟🐴

// Binx is ready for the quarter final she’s wearing the men’s football team kit from the 2022 .
Firstly, considering there is a world cup on the opportunity to buy a women’s kit for Binx was extremely limited on the high street. Shocking. Secondly, the cost for a 7 year old top was £70. The kit she has on was £25… go figure.

// I’m home.
// Firstly, thank you to everyone who have sent messages, phone calls, jokes and just general abuse. I can’t tell you how much it has helped over the past 10 days. Although I’m not out of the woods as of yet I am well enough to come home and start my recuperation period.
Thank you to everyone who came to visit. Phone calls from Australia, Spain and visits from Dubai (although already in the country, I’ll still take it.)
It’s been a very reflective week but the love and friendship has really helped.
I’d also like to say thank you to all the staff at Hull Royal Infirmary on ward 40 and 4 for the amazing help and support that they have given both my family and I.
Thank you.

// Home time … no wait.
// I was at the patient departure lounge. When one of the ward nurses said that my consultant wanted me to have another CTA tomorrow. So, no going home today. I’m walking around Hull until they can get me a bed. 😫
Better to be safe than sorry. It’s not a nice procedure.

// Personal update.
// I had a CTA (computed tomography angiography) on Monday. That is a type of medical test that combines a CT scan with an injection of a special dye to produce pictures of blood vessels and tissues in a part of your body. This was done on my head to see if there were any aneurysms that could have been the cause of my bleed. Thankfully, so far, it was not.
It was a Venous subarachnoid haemorrhage bleed. This occurs when a vein is split and the blood starts moving steadily and slowly. It won't shoot out like arterial blood. Although venous bleeding looks different, it can be just as serious as arterial bleeding.
I will hopefully be leaving hospital tomorrow or Friday but I’m waiting to see how the meds go overnight as the pain is really unbearable and I’m not getting much sleep. I’ll be back in about 7/10 days for another CTA. That will determine if it wasn’t a definite aneurysm. (Too much blood can block the initial scans, so need to wait for the blood to drain away).
Then, it’s a very long road to recovery. I’ll be looking at least 3 weeks off work and no physical/strenuous workouts for 3 months.
Although I’m relieved that it’s not an aneurysm at the moment it’s a weight off my mind. I’ve been very lucky that it wasn’t aneurysm or a stroke. All I have thought about for the past few days is my little girl and wife. Not to sound like a dick here and get all ‘I’m so lucky and see life differently etc’ bu****it, I have to some degree. Just be nice, say I love you to your friends and family more than you should and give them a hug.
I didn’t do anything different from any normal day it just happened. That’s how lucky I’ve been. In short, Be nice, don’t be a s**t.
Much love to you all xx❤️

// Personal update - an acute 42 hrs
// These pictures were taken on Saturday night after being told that I had suffered a brain haemorrhage. At the time I wasn’t 100% sure what that meant and obviously you think the worst. I’ve been very lucky, it could have been. At the moment the bleed is relatively small but is still bleeding. However they are not sure of where it is coming from. They hope it is just a bleed that was caused from ‘exercising’, 🤣 who knew? But it could be a bleed that is part of a much bigger problem.
Later today they are doing a test where they will go through my groin with a camera, up to my brain and with radiography will determine if it’s a from an aneurysm. Now depending on the aneurysm they will determine what action they will take.
1. Fix it with a coil to stop it breaking in future. This will be completed through the same method of the groin. Simples. 🤷🏼♂️
2. Fix it by opening the skull and clipping the aneurysm to stop blood getting to it. 😬
3. If there is no aneurysm then that’s a bonus but not sure how to cure it as of yet.
Either way, any recovery will be long and painful as the blood exits my brain through its natural process.
I’m currently in the best place at Hull General infirmary where the regional specialist centre is. The staff have been amazing and have been my drug peddler for the past 24 hrs. The pain is constant 24/7 but they have helped me try to suppress it.
Best case scenario is that I’ll be in the hospital for 10 days and the recovery is 365 days at best.
My wife has been unbelievable with her support and love. My thoughts of my little girl without me are not for this post but have understandably come to the forefront of mind.
Id like to thank Luke and Nikki for helping Hannah and I out for Saturday night looking after Binx whilst I found out why ‘thunderclap headache’ was going on for 6 hours.
My friends who have have been amazing with their humour which so far has been the best medicine.
Much love to you all.

// Wedding party
// It’s the best part of the night. After the first dance, some parties can be a quite affair or, they can become an absolute monster of a night. I like to make sure that I stay for as long as I think is needed. Just to see if the party can go to the next level.
Well, Poppy and Jonathan’s party did just that. It was great. You me if the best nights I’ve had the pleasure of photography for a few years. Here are a few that really show it.

// Poppy & Jonathan
// poppy & Jonathan wanted someone to just document their day. They didn’t want all the ‘posed’ shots, they wanted a real document of their day.
Their day was set in the wonderful countryside of Shropshire set in the grounds of an old Norman Castle.
Poppy got ready at the family home, 3 minute walk to the church and then a 5 minute walk to the grounds of the castle. A dream day.
The weather was great, the location was great and the Coxhead family were amazing, as always. (I’ve photographed two brides now as part of the family.)
As always it was an absolute blast and both the bride and groom were amazing.

// Shoot week - recap on locations. Weather is going to be a challenge this week but we have a plan…
// Hannah took Binx to the wildlife park today. She loved it. It’s a great place to and worth every penny.
In 2006 I graduated in graphic design at Cumbria Institute of the Arts. Throughout my time at university studying graphic design, my creative work was influenced by my photography and vice versa. The same basic laws of each principle has influenced my photography work and this has continued throughout my career as a wedding and travel photographer.
As a travel and wedding photographer I get to visit some wonderful places that influence not only my work but my love for photography. Going back to the same city or beach on a different day or time of year allows me to see it from a different perspective and create a completely new picture. It could be the colours or a new angle that makes the composition stir an emotion that I hope will make the viewer want to visit that destination.
I love to involve myself in the local culture. Blending in with my surroundings and trying new experiences gives me a child like view on my situation and surroundings. It’s surprising how welcoming people can be when you are polite, happy and inquisitive. One of my mottos is ‘if you don’t ask, you don’t get’.
As a travel and wedding photographer I can’t carry a lot of equipment, so the creative challenge is in working only with the available light. My images might be created in an instant where I get lucky with my subject matter or I might have to wait for hours to get the right shot. Either way my excitement about composition, colour, shapes, line and form brings an energy to my images that I hope people can connect with.
