A beautiful barn wedding calls for a beautiful rustic wedding cake. Tree-effect cakes have been super popular this year and they can be made with buttercream - like in this example - or fondant (check out a recent post!).

Each one will be completely unique (much like trees!) and a silver birch effect is such a great option for a wedding, to keep it looking elegant.

Ooh I love an evening shot of the wedding cake!

Huge congratulations to D&C who celebrated their wedding day last week. Their gorgeous tropical theme proved a challenge for the cake as most tropical leaves are poisonous but managed to find some very impressive faux leaves 🙌 you wouldn’t know they weren’t real when paired with fresh roses!

CAKE TOPPERS

Your wedding cake is a great opportunity to add some personal touches to your wedding day. Cake toppers made out of sugar can be classy or cute, and they make lovely keepsakes.

Whether it’s an elegant cactus heart or bride & groom otters, pheasants or Lego people, literally anything can be made out of sugar (just don’t ask me to do people, I really don’t like making figurines of people! 😂)

CAKE TOPPERS

Lots of couples aren’t sure whether to use a cake topper for their cake or not. You absolutely don’t have to (and some designs will look better without!) but they can be a fun way to add your personality to your big day.

This week, I’ll be showcasing some different types of cake topper. Starting today with one of the most popular - laser cut toppers.

These can be made in wood, acrylic or metal and simply insert into the top of the cake. They can easily be added to a design and can feature your married name or a short message (see the last photo 😆) And as with any cake topper, they’ll make a nice little keepsake for after your big day.

PETIT CAKES

If you’re planning a smaller wedding, there’s no reason why you can’t celebrate with the cake of your dreams. Petit 2-tier cakes are just as beautiful and you can still have the ceremonial cake cutting.

This size cake is perfect for serving 30-40 guests. I always recommend presenting smaller cakes on taller stands to help elevate them and show off your beautiful wedding cake.

I’ll be celebrating all things rustic this week by highlighting some of my recent semi-naked wedding cakes. These are always popular as they’re budget-friendly and suit all venues, especially all the gorgeous barn and country garden wedding venues throughout the south west.

The first part of the year is always super busy with wedding consultations and it’s a great time of year to start thinking about your wedding cake. I may be a little biased here, but I think it’s definitely one of the most fun parts of wedding planning!

I hold remote consultations, so you’ll receive your cake tasters in the post to enjoy at home and we’ll jump on a video call to say hello and talk all about your cake. I absolutely love this part of the cake journey as I get to hear all about my couples’ big day 🥰

After your consultation you’ll receive your designs and quotes, and I’m happy to keep designing until you have your perfect wedding cake.

SHOWSTOPPERS: Tori & Mike were looking for a traditional wedding cake design reminiscent of her parent’s cake when they got married 🥰 we featured particular details and incorporated them into a more modern design to create this dream cake.

With piped scroll borders, monogram detailing and pillars, their cake was a beautiful mix of traditional and contemporary. Congratulations to the happy couple!
