Music at Bishops House , this week ...
You want "Out There", we have "Out There" possibly on a limb.....
From New Zealand and Egypt.
NZ has long been a rich source of influential underground music. think of The Chills, The Bats, The Clean, Roy Montgomery........etc
This Thursday 3rd July, we bring you Pumice. Pumice return with an exquisite experimental bathroom sink pop sound, dubbed Phylis. Anything could happen fragility is a core component of these songs.
Little Skull completes the evening. Dean Brown's long running solo project. He plays all instruments, even if it sounds like he is barely touching them and yet his obscure personal fingerprints are all over the place. His instinctive spontaneous playing finds ways to make them glow and fizz and ripple
On Friday 4th Aly Eissa (Cairo) returns after a transcendental performance earlier tis year as part of The Handover . (if you were there you know) This time Aly performs solo OUD with a suite of songs entitled "The Fruit Fly" Sounds mundane ...we think not!
In The Fruit Fly, Aly Eissa presents a singular, immersive journey—one long, continuous composition that weaves together meditative, repetitive motifs with expansive, evolving melodies. Inspired by the simple, often overlooked beauty of fruits, the piece honors life’s fleeting pleasures and the moments of stillness within it. Through intricate oud playing and subtle improvisations, Eissa invites the listener into a deep, reflective space, where time becomes elastic and the sound becomes a living, breathing entity.
