I did promise you that things might take a dark turn.
In the midst of the news at the moment about domestic abuse, drink spiking and it being white ribbon time, I felt enraged to write a poem to say “no more”.
No more violence against women and more education on consent please. No means no, that also means no I don’t want you making lude comments just because I’m wearing something short/low cut/tight, no to putting a hand up your skirt on the dancefloor, no to shouting gross sexual things and beeping on streets, no to unwanted bum pats/boob grabs, no to taking advantage when drunk - someone who can’t string a sentence together/stand up cannot consent..
I used to run a women’s book group when these examples were spoken about plus many more..
Let’s educate our boys (and keep them the f**k away from Andrew Tate and the like) 🤮

It’s called “22 March 2020”

I think the uncertainty of the world at that time and the fact that I was a florist on Mother’s Day was all too heartbreaking.

So it’s been officially a year since my last wedding as a florist. It’s been a year of rest and reflection. But I’m very pleased to report that I have no regrets!!

I was craving creativity though.

And so I picked up a pen and started scribbling. I’ve written poetry in the past - mainly for weddings, christenings, funerals and to get through challenging times since being a teenager (I wish I had those poems still (🫣).

So here goes.

I hope you stay with me as I share whatever pops into my head. Some silliness like ☝🏻 some a little deeper and darker.
