Norton House Country Club was originally Norton House, built in 1623 by Morewood of Oakes Park. From this time through to the mid 1800โs the house was occupied by a series of well do to businessmen including Robert Newton who raised a troop of horse to defend George II against the Stuarts, in addition to introducing a process of refining precious metals in Sheffield.
In 1863 Charles Cammell bought the house for ยฃ10,000, demolished it and erected the present building which was subsequently owned by a Stipendary Magistrate in Sheffield and M J Gleeson (builder) before occupation in 1941 by the Home Guard during the 2nd World War.
In 1945 Norton House Country Club was formed as a private membersโ club and in 1964 the house was extended to enlarge the lounge into what is now the function room. We are happy to accept and welcome new members who wish to enjoy the Clubโs facilities and social evenings.
