It’s been a while since we came on here and talked about the journey of Hotwire. Founded five years ago in the back room of a student house in Sheffield, Hotwire has been on a somewhat turbulent yet fulfilling journey.
Our first party was actually in the front room of a pub in Sheffield after weather and licensing caused various issues with the proposed courtyard party. Shortly after, we took to the road and caused some mayhem in York (both good and bad).
Recent years have seen us take to multiple different venues across Sheffield, Manchester, and Nottingham, sometimes for 300 people, sometimes for 20. The one constant has always been our commitment to providing people with a platform to perform and also providing the lovely people on the dancefloor with some good music. We are extremely blessed to have invited SO many talented artists to join us at these parties.
Alongside our parties, we have released 100+ free downloads, multiple Bandcamp exclusives, and lots of free premieres for artists from all corners of the world. We are truly proud to have championed people from so many different areas of the world. Hearing everyone’s unique spin on things really hits home the power of music.
If I’m TOTALLY honest, what started as a passion project soon turned into a lot of stress, disappointment, and loss of money. I’m sure many promoters and label owners can agree.
BUT, we wouldn’t change it for the world.
