Illuminate the Gardens is a three day fireworks and lighting extravaganza held annually at the Botanical Gardens in Sheffield on and the start of November. A magical night out for the whole family, at Illuminate the Gardens you can enjoy some delicious street food or grab a drink from the licensed bar, watch mesmerising firework and laser performance and hear some great live music. If you’ve got l

ittle ones with sensitive ears, you can join us for a ‘no bangs’ fireworks display in the early evening, or stay later to enjoy the exhilarating main display. Of course, the real star of the show is the wonderful venue itself: experience the Botanical Gardens in all its glory with wonderful lighting highlighting some of its stunning features.

A massive thank you to everyone that came to our 2024 event.

One month on and we are still getting wonderful feedback and lots of lovely comments on this year's show design.

Big shout out and huge respect to everyone that worked on the event, you are all awesome and the reason the show is a big success.

We have already begun work on next years show and we have some really, really exciting news coming up very soon.

2025 is looking like another big step forward on bringing you the best experience for a night out in Sheffield.

👀 SNEAK PEAK

Leeway Creative Productions are back again and this year will creating a beautifully lit trail of hidden treasure, turning the new trail for this year into a sparkling seascape.

Formed by Daisy and Matthew Lee in 2015, Leeway has its roots in outdoor music and arts events of the 1990s and draws on the atmosphere of pioneering events of earlier decades. With more than 20 years of experience each within the live events industry this small team works with creative practitioners, freelance technicians and arts organisations across the UK, specialising in outdoor events with a strong creative element be that a free community arts event in a local park, a parade, a light trail or a weekend long festival.

"Since our involvement in the eco-driven protest movements of the 1990s we have always considered ourselves to be part of our environment and have strived towards a low-waste, low emissions way of doing things. Events should have a big impact on people, not on the environment, and site specific work should compliment the surroundings, rather than damage them."

Their passion for sustainability within the events industry has allowed them to develop technology such as a modular battery inverter system that can be used to power anything from carnival floats to festival stages. In addition to this, Daisy delivers sustainability training, helping organisations set their own targets and plans.

👀 SNEAK PEAK

Wonder Made Wild are bringing all sorts of wild creations to Illuminate The Gardens this year! Originally a wildlife conservationist working with lions, otters and hedgehogs, Sheffield-based artist Sara now specialises on light-based installations that take inspiration from the nature.

Her passion is using her artwork to connect people with the natural world as well as delivering creative opportunities to people. Sara has worked all over the UK to deliver new installations, workshops and community events. Originally a carnival artist, she loves using colourful and unique fabrics as well as giving a new life to scrap and waste materials. Some of Sara's most exciting work is making and performing giant puppets, and she'll be bringing a brand new, larger-than-life creation to Illuminate!

Our Story

Illuminate the Gardens is a fireworks and lighting extravaganza held at the Botanical Gardens in Sheffield on Bonfire Night weekend. - in 2019, the event will take place on three nights: Friday 1st, Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd November.
