We're fast approaching Valentine's Day....
.... and I've taken the opportunity to put a little reminder in my window!

It's also a reminder that our flowers are a little different to your average offerings from other florists and, dare I say it, far more superior to what you'll pick up in a supermarket!

They'll be no tiny red roses with gyp, no cellophane packaging or more packaging than flowers....

We make beautiful bouquets with a mix of big, velvety red roses, vintage pink roses, soft mauve lilac, deep mulberry astrantia and oodles of foliage.

We'll also have lots of spring bouquets, as well as white rose mixed bouquets, all wrapped in simple kraft paper tied with raffia.

One last thing, they'll be none of those bears made with roses in a plastic box 🤮

I only create what I'd like to be gifted, and I definitely don't want one of those!! That's cause for divorce 🤣🤣

You can pop in the shop to order or call me on 07891511598.... but they'll be plenty of gorgeous flowers from the 13th February.

"£15, for a bunch of tulips!"

So here's the heads up and truth behind the price.

Firstly I sell plenty of tulips at this price, they are premium grade tulips, often with double heads, in unusual colours.

Secondly, they are unusual varieties, with strong stems, they are not your mass grown supermarket variety.

And thirdly, and here's the truth, tulips are almost a third more expensive this year for me to buy.

The prices are high because there is a shortage due to a wet winter and a lot of bulbs have rotted in the fields.

I haven't changed my price, I'm selling them for the same price as last year. I recognise every item has a ceiling price, so my profit takes a hit.....

I understand some people won't see the value of premium tulips, but, and thank you, plenty do!

They are, after all a treat, and a simple way to enjoy the promise of spring in our homes.

As I always say, there's tulips and then there's our tulips!

The promise of spring is almost better than spring itself..?

Maybe, although I'd like a bit of warmth now please!

And in the meantime I'll add a much needed spring feeling with this uber pretty vase and blossom combo.... do you need a spring boost?

Pop by and see me, and I'll help you feel you're one step closer to spring!

Would you be a faithful or a traitor?

Who's got the 'I'm staying' card?

Wednesday night, I'm glad you've come around again!

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, sorry, not sorry, where have you been??!?!

I don't think I'd make a good traitor, but I do think I'd be able to sniff them out, and maybe become one late in the game so I could run away with the money 🤣🤣

We are back open tomorrow!!

That is Tuesday 7th January, incase IG shows you this in three weeks time!

I'm back after a lovely break in Devon, and a few days at home catching up on everything I didn't do in December!

I'm looking forward to seeing you all, and being away from the biscuit/chocolate cupboard! Is anyone else picking and grazing all day long?!

We have a very spring vibe for the flower bar, and some lovely new pots in, some of which will get planted up with bulbs.

Let's face it, it's cold, dark and snowy, so we definitely need the promise of spring in our homes more than ever!

🌸

Ordering for the new season!

I've been ordering for the new season ahead today, and we have some gorgeous tulip vases en-route!

And I've ordered some fab faux botanicals too, including some plants, so I'm looking forward to sharing those with you around the 18th January.

We're open from Tuesday 7th January, with fresh spring inspired flowers, and this weekend I'll be getting the shop ready to open.

Of course, that'll mean a new window display, shall I fill it with tulips? Are you ready for a bit of spring?

Let's hope we're not wading through the snow to get there!

Wishing you a joyous festive season, with huge thanks.

Huge thanks to each and every one of you for shopping with me this year, for your kindness and support and love.

The last six months have been a challenge, and, at times, opening my door has been hard, but with your love and support I was able to do it. I'm so fortunate to have the customers I have, you're all amazing and i appreciate you all greatly.

THANK YOU 🤍

We are now closed, and I'm on my way to Devon for a break with my husband, children, their wives/partners and Elvis the dog!!

I can't wait to feel that sea air, laugh, rest and walk!

I hope you are with loved ones, and have the Christmas you wish for, for those without someone they wished was there, I'm sending you a big hug and love.

I'll be back on Tuesday 7th January xx

Why you'll never find amaryllis in my bouquets....

Amaryllis are a stand out flower, deserving of their own space and moment in the spot light.

Their trumpet flowers are huge, and either get squashed in a bouquet or bully the other flowers.

Their stems are fleshy and are unhappy squashed amongst other stems, they are easily crushed and then unable to take up water.

And here's my pet hate..... one amaryllis stem sticking out the top of a bouquet.... with less premium flowers surrounding it half way down its stem.... in my opinion a waste of a beautiful flower!

So here's the way to do it, if you want a mixed vase....

Buy your amaryllis, and have them wrapped separately to protect their delicate heads and stems.

Then select your foliage, nice tall stems, and then add in an equally premium flowers, say Bells of Ireland, thistles and stunning roses to complement your colour scheme.

Va va boom! You can then arrange them in your vase at home, a perfect Christmas arrangement 🌲

And if it's a bouquet you want, please stick to all the beautiful seasonal flowers and colours, with lots of beautiful eucalyptus 😘

So it's time to get a wiggle on, get your flower orders in, choose your table decoration, pick up planted gifts and dec the 'halls' with flowers!

Amaryllis are in the shop, you can buy them now, store them out of water flat somewhere cool and dry ready to arrange in water at the weekend.

When they've gone, they're gone!

Here's your warning!

Winter wreaths- we have a very limited selection left!

So if you want one of our gorgeous winter wreaths you really need to get a wiggle on - I think we have half a dozen left, and when they're gone they're gone!

Our suppliers are out of moss and so are we, and I have used every last bit.

On the plus side we've been planting up our beautiful vessels today , you're keeping us super busy and we wouldn't have it any other way!

Honestly, thank you for your continued support, it's making us feel very loved 🤍

Now I'm going for a soak in a hot bath, with a cheeky G&T....

Refresh, renew and restock...

That's pretty much been my day!

Tuesdays are always busy, and much more so at this time of year.

They always start with opening the door to a delivery of fresh flowers, plants and bulbs, today we had a few new pots and vases in too.

Once that little lot was sorted, it was on to making some wreaths, then planting up containers. The window display's has had a facelift and the rest of the shop has been merchandised.

And I've helped lots of you with flowers, wreaths, and choosing those all important presents, not all for other people!!

It's been a busy day, and tomorrow I'll open the door to another delivery.... and we'll do it all again!

But that's what I love, being busy, creating and helping you..... it's my December diet, no time to eat, so I just might squeeze into those size 10's come Christmas Eve?!?!?

I've seen this sentiment all over Instagram today & over the weekend.

And although it's a great thought, it's about so much more....

Small businesses are often run by one person, a person who's passionate about their trade, who'll help and guide you buy well. They are real people with costs of their own, both business and personal.

Small businesses have had a challenging year, many are relying on Christmas to keep going next year.

Supporting small businesses keeps our town alive and thriving whilst encouraging others to open shops and businesses.

If you choose to pop into town and shop from your local shops you're potentially keeping other services alive, bus services, taxis, etc

You'll hopefully have a fab shopping experience and tell others about the business you used. Word of mouth recommendations are the best!

You'll create a town with happy, bustling vibes, word spreads and others come to add to the local economy.

And you'll make whoever you choose to support very happy, and their hard work will feel worthwhile. In turn, they will then shop local and add more to the local economy.

So please, keep your town the bustling place it should be, and as a bonus, Santa will put you on the nice list, hope he shops local too??!?!

Well the start of the day wasn't what we expected....
....but it ended where I wanted it to be, with a Christmas window 99% finished.

I just need to add some extra lights tomorrow and it's done!

As usual it's impossible to photograph, so you're just going to have to see it in person!

The last big deliveries have arrived too, so my bottom hasn't seen a chair all day, my throat complained of a drought, and my tummy is rumbling!!

So it's a hot bath to warm up, an early supper and bed, this is how I roll heading into December!

Who's enjoyed the snow, and who will be pleased to see it go?

Ps..... these are our beautiful gift vouchers, available from the shop or online 😉
