September, a time to reset and refresh.

Who uses September to reflect on what's gone, and embrace what's ahead?

I'm trying to unscramble my head after all the challenges this summer has given me, and plan forward.

Easier said than done, but, I think there's something about September that offers us the chance to declutter both physically and emotionally, so I'm going to use that feeling to push forward.

A great place for me to start is in my garden, (it's in need of TLC!) it's a great place for me to loose myself for a few hours and let my subconscious get to work!

The vase and faux hydrangea heads are both in stock, a what a colour to set your seasonal intentions too?!

....because I love my shop too much!

I get asked a lot do big wedding flowers; arches, hanging installations, moon gates etc but I usually decline. Not because I can't do them, but because I choose not too.

You cannot be all things to all people, you spread yourself too thinly and everything suffers, including you.

Plus it's bloody stressful!

My son's wedding flowers were put up during storm Lillian, the wind was whipping around the garden and it hammered with rain all night and the morning of the wedding.

And the flowers were essentially outside!

There is a huge amount to work that isn't seen, designing, sourcing, conditioning, transportation, filling and emptying vans, dismantling, thinking in your feet when what you thought you could do you can't because the ground is uneven and it's blowing a gale!

The arches took two people 6 hrs, would you have imagined that?!

It took hours to wash buckets and put everything away, and a day to sort out the shop before re-opening.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVED creating my son's wedding flowers, it was an honour and joy, but do I want to do it every weekend of wedding season? No! I'm happy being a shop keeper, it's my first love and will always come first!

Wedding florists, who also run a shop, I take my hat off to you!

There's going to be no sitting around this week!

My eldest son gets married on Saturday, and guess who's doing the flowers?!

So there's lots of prep behind the scenes, not just the flowers either, lots of personal prep too!!

I did pop a post on saying we'd be closed some of this week, we'll be closed Thursday, Saturday and Tuesday the following week after the bank holiday.

I will, of course, be posting lots on stories this week if you fancy coming along!

Well hello, it's been a minute!

Thank you to all of you, for your support and wonderful messages over the last six weeks.

And, although the grief doesn't go away, life has to resume some level of normal!

So I'm back!

And about to go to the other extreme of emotion!

My son gets married at the end of the month, so I'm planning and creating his wedding flowers, as well speech writing and trying to find the perfect backless bra!! That's my most difficult challenge, and one I should have sorted a long time ago!

Lots of other things happening in August, so I'll give you a heads up on an offer not to be missed tomorrow ;)

It's not very often I'm quiet, but quiet I am...

I think most of you will know why I'm not on here... I have completely under estimated grief, the power it has to drain you.

I'm still in the shop most days, and if I'm not there Holly is... we are open with all our botanical fabulousness, I just don't here the brain power to shout about it on here!

I know you'll understand, I was just feeling a little guilty for not posting... which is utterly stupid!

Life goes on...

We'd booked a holiday before last week came and broke our hearts, I wasn't sure whether to come, but some brain rest was required and there's nothing I can do in the uk than I can't do here.

Other than physically run the shop, luckily for me I have Holly, she's picked up the reins and will be there for you this week.

How grateful am I to have a stand in? She's been an angel since last Monday and I know will look after you all this week.

Just please note the shop will be open Wednesday to Saturday this week. 10-4pm.

Pop in and say hi, she'll look after you! And I'll try to soak up a little sun and gather my strength and thoughts.

Your patience at the moment is gratefully appreciated ๐Ÿค๐Ÿค๐Ÿค๐Ÿค๐Ÿค

This is a big thank you for sending so much love my way this week

I'm so grateful, it's been, and will continue to be a tough time, but knowing you're so many of you are thinking of me has made a huge difference and is so appreciated. So many messages and cards, thank you ๐Ÿค

I pretty much feel as this photo; fuzzy around the edges, and there's more black than white in my life right now.

But it'll heal given time, and, as they say, time is all we have.

I know Dad, was proud of me, as I am of him. He taught me to be respectful, thoughtful and loyal, but he also showed me how to have fun, not take life too seriously and that a G&T should have more G than T!!

So now I have an excuse to fill my glass, and celebrate how lucky I was to have the Dad I did ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”

I promise my feed won't be full of this, I just wanted to say thank you for your support and love xx

Back in stock!

There's something very structurally beautiful about these faux stems. And you just want to reach out and touch them!

Perfect for a bit of drama without all the fuss.

Not sure how to style them?

Check out the window display!

Style alone, or with faux eucalyptus, I've styled them with dark mulberry faux foliage and their sister stem who's a dusty shade of pink.

Let me know what you think, the last lot sold out quickly so I'm pretty sure you're in love!

Newsflash!!

Peony season is coming to an end much sooner than we'd all like. Wholesalers are predicting another two weeks and that'll be it.

Why?

Well it's not just the uk battling too much rain, wholesalers are now warning that the wet conditions across Europe are effecting the peonies.

So, if you want some for your home, now's the time, it's always a short season , that's what makes them special, but shorter this year unless the weather changes dramatically!

Bloody rain, ruins your hair, makes you miserable and now shortens peony season.... ???

Well my day off went by quickly!

I've had to drive up to the passport office in Liverpool.... should have twigged on sooner as later in the year it's my 10 year wedding anniversary, the last time I changed it!

Apart from the drive I do think it's an easier way to get a passport, especially when your husband fills out the form online for you!!

Holidays booked too, and it's only three weeks away, so it's going to come around very quickly..... no time to be 'beach ready', whatever that stupid saying means.

To me it means I drag on a bikini in the morning rather than a pair of jeans, and I don't have to wear make up because no one knows me there!!

I need your recommendations please!

Definitely in need of some R&R!

Some sun, good food and nothing to do but read a book!

But where?

Now I know you're all well travelled and know of some great places....so...

Tell me where you'd go! Europe, and there must be sun! No rain please, there's enough of that here!

Thank you!

Let's just appreciate peony season.....

Because before we know it it'll be over!

Coral Charm is definitely your favourite, and we can see why! It starts a deep coral colour and slowly fades to a softer calmer shade. It's at its most delicate before it drops its petals....

And I think peony are one flower that is still beautiful as it decays, wouldn't you agree?

I have a fresh delivery of coral, blush and white arriving in the morning.

Plus I have some chocolate cosmos plants coming, save me from myself, because I can just about squeeze them into my garden.... did I buy them for myself or you?!

I'm loving all the posts!

Anyone going? What's your favourite garden so far?

If you're like me and hate the crowds, you can enjoy it on BBC2 at 8pm tonight, I'll be tuning in to see it all, and I hope they show some of the amazing shops and businesses all flowered up in London.

Perhaps that's something Shrewsbury should do for ?

Embrace and enjoy the beauty of flowers... I'll have a think of how I can pimp up the shop! And if you want some help with yours let me know ๐ŸŒฟ

Do you work in chaos or in an orderly fashion?

I'm the messiest worker ever!!

Thank you to everyone today that's seen past the boxes, and mess I made unpacking and merchandising the shop.

Honestly at times it resembled a glamorous tip, but tonight I've left it all looking gorgeous, I even washed the floor!

Ready to tantalise your senses? Pop by tomorrow and I promise the chaos is gone and calm has been restored!!

Feel like I've been missing in action from here!

Sometimes with all the hats a business owner wears there has to be a little give, and posting on here got left behind for a few days!

We can't be all to everything always, and it's just something I have to accept, even if I do feel the guilt!

But I'm back, and tomorrow I'll share so shop newness with you, lots of lovely pots have arrived today.

As I have a jiggle around of the shop tomorrow I'll take photos and pop them on my stories.

So keep watching, unless you're on an IG break, although you wouldn't be reading this if you were ๐Ÿคญ

Some days are for the f@ it bucket!

I over slept! I rarely sleep past 7, today I did!

I got to work, and my water heater had had enough of heating water and had spent the weekend dripping (well more than dripping), a nice puddle awaited me at the bottom of the stairs!

A plumber has now been and isolated the said water heater, it's stopped dripping and will be replaced. He's a very fair plumber, and didn't charge me for today but a new one will cost me, always good after paying the VAT man!

And finally (I hope), it's been so quiet today, the Tuesday after bank holiday always is but today was ghostly.

In this world it can't all be roses and laughs, so tomorrow we start again, and I've a plant delivery landing so it's already a better day ๐ŸŒฟ

Joy - a feeling of great pleasure and happiness....

A chap walked past my shop as I was closing up, he smiled at me and remarked, "your window always brings me such joy, it makes my day every time I go past, thank you".

How lovely! It got me thinking, and realising, because I find joy in curating my shop, creating flowers and sourcing beautiful interior pieces, others (you) find joy too!

Bit of a win, win, don't you think?! Joy all round!

It's all changing even if the weather isn't!

This weekend will see us move into peony and hydrangea vibes. Oh yes, we're playing with sunny vibes even if the sky isn't!

It is the last weekend of our tulips, and trust me, they are stunning! Lexi dropped them off this afternoon and there's a fab mix of colour and style!

Then we're full stem ahead, saying goodbye to spring flowers and hello to blousy blooms!

I did see a headline that a heatwave is on its way, it was on Facebook and it was The Mirror, so we'll see! Not sure I trust those sources but I'm living in hope!!

How much can you fit into one small shop?

Quite a lot as it happens!!

And it's all looking pretty splendid... and when you're unpacking boxes and people are buying it before it's on the shelves you know it's good!

If you're wondering what all the fuss is about, come and see for yourself tomorrow!

We're open from 10 to 4pm and hopefully the sun will also make an appearance ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿคž

Oh, and as you've cleared me out of Shropshire grown tulips by , I've more arriving in the morning!!

Tonight post is more of a public service notice!

Wear your SPF! Always!

I was closed on Tuesday because I took my mum to a dermatology appointment. She has a suspicious growth on her nose, that one isn't a worry but another one we hadn't noticed is.

She's never sat in the sun or lay on a sunny beach. But she is of the generation that didn't use SPF, it just wasn't on the radar.

The dermatologist said that if you ever have a suspicious mark, mole or persistent skin problem that won't heal your Dr will refer you to get it checked out.

So please check your skin, and get anything you're not sure about checked out quickly. The treatments are quick and easy when it's caught early.

All of mums bumps and marks will be scraped, analysed and hopefully that will be it, fingers crossed tightly!

Wear SPF everyday, mines now next to my moisturiser and will be on every day, regardless of if it's sunny or not! It's also the best way not to have wrinkles later in life!

Reminder!

I'm closed tomorrow (Tuesday) as I'm taking mum for an appointment at Warwick hospital.

Back open on Wednesday, with all the goodies I've unpacked today! The shop is filling up, lots of pots have landed, and we'll have a plant delivery Thursday.

Wednesday will be fresh flowers and a selection of smaller houseplants.

Will there be room for humans?! Of course, come and enjoy the botanical delights!

Heads up for next week...Different opening times...

A slight change to the beginning of the week next week, 15th April.

I'll be open Monday, and closed Tuesday.

Apologies for the change but my mum has an appointment in Warwick and I need to be with her.

The good news is on Monday I have a delivery of ceramics from Sweden, so I'll be unpacking and paying the game of change around to fit it all in!

And by Wednesday I won't know what day of the week it is! Is it just me? When your routine changes it completely discombobulates you?

There's tulips, and then there's our tulips!

And they have to be one of the best ways to drag ourselves out of the doom and gloom of the weather!

It may not be spring outdoors but it sure can be indoors!

And as the Dutch tulip season fades the British season hots up...I feel the need to extend the joy they bring, is that not the best idea I've had in a while!!

And thank you, to all of you that have sent lovely messages to me and Charlie, (my oversized soppy retriever!) he's feeling very sorry for himself and not eating (never has he refused food) but the vet assures me he'll be back to himself tomorrow. Here's hoping, at least I came home to a clean kitchen floor this afternoon.... although he barely got up to say hello....

I'm such a forget me not!!

I've been on a road trip, to buy new products, and guess what?

I was so happy with my scanner I forgot to take photos of what I've bought ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ I'm sad I can't share what I've seen today but trust me, it's fabulous!

And, it's exclusive to Botanique, I do my best to bring you fabulous things that you won't find elsewhere in Shrewsbury. No one wants to see more of the same, especially me!

I'll tell you more tomorrow, but for now the car is now recharging, and I'm going to do the same, supper, bath and bed!

The one thing I did notice driving along was all the lambs, just beautiful to see them, gives the illusion of spring even if it doesn't feel like it!!

Am I a florist?
Do you sell plants?
Are you an interiors shop?

1,2 or 3?!

I'm all three, well I'm actually 4, because I'm a garden designer too!!

I'm all of the above because I don't believe creating a home is just about paint on the walls and a few cushions!

Our homes need life in them to be truly peaceful & harmonious, a soul is nourished by bringing nature to the fore.

And that nature can become living interior design by styling it with fabulous pots and vases.

Do the spring clean, and then add the green!

Is that a song? Or just me being creative with words?!!

It's been a long time m, but houseplants are coming back!

As many of you know, my shop is just too cold for houseplants during winter. And I've been waiting for things to warm up before reintroducing them, and finally I think we're almost there!

So over the next few weeks we'll build up the plants and pots, tomorrow is the first delivery of plants and pots are on there way from Sweden.

I'm going to take it steady, as the temperatures are still hit and miss, slow and steady wins the day, heh?

And if you feel inclined to do a warm temperature dance, please feel free!!
