I've seen this sentiment all over Instagram today & over the weekend.

And although it's a great thought, it's about so much more....

Small businesses are often run by one person, a person who's passionate about their trade, who'll help and guide you buy well. They are real people with costs of their own, both business and personal.

Small businesses have had a challenging year, many are relying on Christmas to keep going next year.

Supporting small businesses keeps our town alive and thriving whilst encouraging others to open shops and businesses.

If you choose to pop into town and shop from your local shops you're potentially keeping other services alive, bus services, taxis, etc

You'll hopefully have a fab shopping experience and tell others about the business you used. Word of mouth recommendations are the best!

You'll create a town with happy, bustling vibes, word spreads and others come to add to the local economy.

And you'll make whoever you choose to support very happy, and their hard work will feel worthwhile. In turn, they will then shop local and add more to the local economy.

So please, keep your town the bustling place it should be, and as a bonus, Santa will put you on the nice list, hope he shops local too??!?!

Well the start of the day wasn't what we expected....
....but it ended where I wanted it to be, with a Christmas window 99% finished.

I just need to add some extra lights tomorrow and it's done!

As usual it's impossible to photograph, so you're just going to have to see it in person!

The last big deliveries have arrived too, so my bottom hasn't seen a chair all day, my throat complained of a drought, and my tummy is rumbling!!

So it's a hot bath to warm up, an early supper and bed, this is how I roll heading into December!

Who's enjoyed the snow, and who will be pleased to see it go?

Ps..... these are our beautiful gift vouchers, available from the shop or online 😉

Are you ready for the week?

Up and at it, or wishing to hide under the covers?!

My week has started with a lovely autumnal drive through beautiful countryside to .

My client Anna and her husband Robin are creating a magical space to retreat to, to escape our busy lives and take time to enjoy workshops in naturally curated surroundings.... it could be a day workshop or a longer stay.... anyone fancy a bit of that?

My thinking cap is on.... in the meantime you'll find me in the window of the shop creating Christmas magic!

I'll be closed on Saturday 16th November

So please shop in the week this week!

Saturday is the committal of my Dads ashes, I'm not ready to do it, but, sometimes you have to do what other family members feel is important!

It's never easy to agree so half are being buried and the other half, which I like to think of as my half, will go out to sea with the Royal Navy in the spring.

Family dynamics, huh, please tell me we all have them?!?

It's that time of year to retreat inside and create a cosy home.

Light the fire, turn down the dimmer switch and light the candles.

And if you can fragrance your home at the same time that's a fabulous bonus!

Our signature candles are the softest fragrance, it gently adds a beautiful bespoke scent with its all natural ingredients of eucalyptus, black spruce, lemon, rosemary, rosewood and ginger grass.

Exclusively created for me by the amazing .aromatherapy they are made from the finest non-genetically modified soya wax.

There's no nasties in my candle, just pure joy!

One disclaimer; one isn't enough, you'll be back for more!

Remembering all those who have fallen, so we have our freedom.

And respecting all those who continue to serve today, so we can always have our freedom and security, keeping us safe from harm.

I watched the festival of remembrance last night, and it bought back memories of watching it as a child with my Dad. We had to stand when the national anthem was played and remain silent when the poppies fell. And quite right too.

Dad honoured and remembered his fellow service men who lost their lives, serving in Northern Island and The Falklands war. He was air lifted off HMS Atlantic Conveyor when it was bombed, how different life could have been if other service men and women hadn't risked their lives to save his. Those hero's gifted me another 40 years with my Dad.

You're uppermost in my thoughts today Dad, I proud of you for keeping us safe and grateful you always came home 🤍

Hello Instagram - it's been a while!

And all of a sudden it's dark by 5pm, and Christmas is around the corner!

But first November!

Earlier in the year I made the decision to add faux botanicals to the shop, and boy, you've loved them!

And today it's had a glow up with gorgeous winter berries, rich decadent foliage and lots of faux eucalyptus.

The shop has suddenly taken on a warm winter feeling, and your home can too!

We're here to help, with a great selection of vases, and all the skills to create you a fabulous arrangement. But if you've a favourite vase of your own, bring it in, and we'll help you choose the right stems for your home.

Come and see us, see if you can spot the fresh from the faux!

Remember our pumpkin decor from last year?

Fancy creating your own?

The "how to" is on my highlights! Have a look, it's easy to do and very therapeutic!

We've some delicious mini pumpkins and gourds arriving tomorrow, they really are a bright fun tonic to this gloomy October weather!

I'm off to boost the heating, anyone else hitting that button?

A dollop of honesty on World Mental Health Day.

I'm truly lucky not to suffer with a mental health issues as a general rule, but the last few months have been difficult.

Let's face it, it's been a very emotionally charged summer, the unexpected death of my father, immediately followed by the happy event of my son getting married. In amongst that, there's the continual roller coaster of a mum suffering with dementia, and running a business and home.

So, it's no wonder my own mental health has taken a battering, I've had to have many words with myself, that it's ok, not to be ok, and do what I can, when I can, and not beat myself up on the bad days.

And it's all a bit alien to me to be honest, especially admitting it!

Some days are good and some days are still very sad, but accepting that's the way it is has been helpful, no use battling it and adding to the stress!

Having the shop & all of you, has been a good thing in many ways, it's stopped me wallowing and given me purpose, a reason to get up, put my face on and show up.

And it is getting easier, so for anyone not feeling so great, I see you, I send you hugs and hope you will find happier times.

One thing I try and remember is, nothing lasts forever. Today might be sad, but tomorrow could be happy.

Most of all, look after yourself 🤍

Cosy season is here...
...and why not have cosy season with great home fragrance?

Our signature candle is stunning, and has no nasties in it, no one wants to pollute their body with synthetic fragrance.

This one is kind, and is made by the uber talented .aromatherapy with the soya wax and beautiful essential oils.

The scent wafts through your home, its gentle on your senses, and will make hunkering down for winter just that bit extra special.

Nearly everyone who buys one, comes back for more, and that's the best recommendation you can get 🤍🤍🤍

Available from the shop and online.

Here's my list of autumn likes....
... because I'm trying to be a positive bunny, even tho there no sign of my first autumn love, there's no dislikes!!

I love -
• crisp sunny days mixed with the seasons colours
• The excuse that darker evenings mean you can settle in with a good TV series and not feel guilty
• Any pumpkin, as long as it's not bright orange!
• A big coat to hide the fact you're wearing scruffs underneath
• You can't see the dust because the light is low
• Putting the garden to bed, knowing you'll not have to garden until spring!
• That it's acceptable to go to bed when it's dark, even if that's 8 o'clock!

Any of these resonate? Add yours in the comments!

Dried Flower Wreaths, that aren't what your granny had!

I love them, and they're very mindful to make. So I had a thought, would this be a workshop idea you'd like to do?

If it's a yes, then I'll add them to the autumn workshops next year!

In the meantime these two are looking for their forever home! Which do you prefer, creams or autumn brights?

Is anyone else a bit bored with instagram?

Or is it just me?

It feels like it's an endless scroll of either 'influencers' telling me how to style my hair, make up or clothes, and if it's not them it's endless adverts for supplements, holidays, fashion or food!

And it's all sponsored ads, the big boys paying to advertise. Unfollow them and they still pop up!

What do small businesses do?

Go unseen?

We take the time to create posts, (as well as the 100 other things we do each day to stay afloat), that seem to get swallowed up and disappear because the big boys and their marketing teams come first.

I'm aware I'm moaning, but it's born out of frustration and "why bother", I'm sure Instagram never used to be like this.... or is it a case of; it's not you it's me?!!

Any other small business owners feeling the same?

Ready for the weekend?

The shop is certainly ready!

With lots of new autumnal delights! It's looking pretty spectacular, should I say that? Oh well, I just did!

There's plenty of gorgeousness to give your home a mini lift for the season ahead, and I'm always happy to help you style your rooms, tables, islands etc.

Bring your dilemmas to me!

It is hydrangea season!

It's also a week of deliveries, and converting the shop fully into autumn season. And as the weather isn't producing an Indian summer I think we're safe to do so!

Hops arrived today, the shop smells more like a brewery than a flower shop, most were for orders, and the extra ones sold today!

We've had a drop of new faux stems, and I've just ordered some more faux hydrangea because it seems you just can't get enough of them!

Friday will see a big drop from Sweden, lots of ceramics, pots and vases in some decadent finishes. It will be a busy day and I'm hoping it arrives early, not at 3.30!

Luckily our heating engineer has told me I'll have hot water by Friday, and I'm already looking forward to a long, hot soak in the bath!

I might just make it to Saturday! Pop by and see all the newness, we're open 10-4pm.
