Anyone in need of support, if you’re in the Telford area then pop along tomorrow night. Free support group where we’ll talk symptoms, what’s troublesome for you and discover small changes that can make the world of difference 🧡🧡

Whether you're a regular or you've never been before, everyone is welcome to come along to Let's talk...menopause.

At our next group, on Wednesday 10th July, Angela from Mbrace will be back with lots of information and a listening ear.

This time Angela is theming the chat "Small Changes, Big Differences!" It's a chance for everyone to chat through their own most troublesome symptoms (if they wish) and perhaps discover small change that could make the world of difference.

If you've been before we look forward to seeing you again, and if you haven't been yet, please don't be nervous, everyone was a first timer on their first visit and knows how you feel. You'll receive a warm welcome and an even warmer drink.

😁 I couldn’t be happier about this campaign!

I’ve been harping on about this for years. When I was 40 I was called for my first health check

☑️ They did my BP
☑️ We talked about activity
☑️ Diet
☑️ Smoking
☑️ Cholesterol
❌ BUT NOT ONE WORD ABOUT THE MENOPAUSE

If we had talked about what to expect my story would have been very different. Would yours?

It’s just bloody common sense 🧡🧡🧡

⚠️ The second is not a stock picture! ⚠️

My HRT journey started almost 3 years ago and the photo shows a sample of what I've used so far. Why so many different bottles, pumps and patches? Some people are lucky and get the dose right quickly and stay on that dose, but for me, and many people I speak to:

👉 Getting the dose right to start with was challenging. After initially feeling great on gel I crashed back down after 3 months. I tried titrating up but felt there was nowhere left on my body to put the gel, and I hated the sensation and having to let it dry. So I switched to patches and that made a huge difference.

👉 Over the years products have been periodically unavailable and I've had to substitute.

👉 3 years in and I'm now finding I need a dose tweak once again - this time a reduction in oestrogen - or is it? The experiment is still ongoing!

So what's the message?

It's so important when you're on HRT to:

👩‍⚕️ Attend your annual review with your GP. Diarise and book yourself, don't rely on a reminder from your practice. I've spoken to so many women lately who haven't had a review for 2+ years. Before you go make sure you have a clear picture of any symptoms you may have lingering.

🖋 Tracking your symptoms is key - even when you feel well. Changes can happen at any time and can creep up on you. Tracking even when you feel well gives you a clear accurate picture

💪 Don't give up! It can take time to find the right dose or method of administering your HRT. Some people absorb gels better than others - same goes for patches and sprays, if it's not working after 3 months speak to your GP.

🩸 If you have any bleeding that is unusual for you (it's normal to bleed when you first start HRT or change a dose) then speak to your GP.

Got questions? DM me now, happy to answer 🧡🧡🧡

Waiting for a gynae procedure or recently been on the list? Read on…

Are you, or have you recently been on a waiting list for a hospital gynaecology service?

If so, the RCOG would like to hear from you as part of their project to reduce waiting times for gynaecology care.

This could mean you are waiting for your first appointment following a referral from a GP, waiting for tests, or waiting for treatment or surgery.

Your feedback will help them campaign for high-quality, timely gynaecology care and treatment

Share your experience in a short anonymous survey: https://bit.ly/rcog-waiting-lists-survey

Happy day😊
New glasses got an outing( too big..?? Who cares 🤷🏻‍♀️ ) and a very efficient pre-op appointment . Such friendly staff with great knowledge. I have heard MANY stories from women who are told they have to stop their HRT before and after an operation due to the risk of blood clots. Pre-op team were bang on telling me there is NO increased risk with transdermal HRT.

3 weeks to knee op 💪💪

𝕄𝕖𝕟𝕠𝕡𝕒𝕦𝕤𝕖 𝕤𝕪𝕞𝕡𝕥𝕠𝕞𝕤, 𝕒 𝕕𝕚𝕤𝕒𝕓𝕚𝕝𝕚𝕥𝕪?

I’ve spent the last couple of days pondering about the new menopause in the workplace guidance from the Equality and Human Rights Commission and how I feel about menopause symptoms being considered a disability.
I’m aware that there is divided opinion here but let me tell you why it’s a good idea…

👉Not supporting women in the workplace suffering from menopause symptoms is discrimination.
👉The Equality Act legally protects people from discrimination in the workplace and in wider society
👉Women need this protection
👉Menopause symptoms can be debilitating
👉Just like any other disability, with support and reasonable adjustments people can STAY in work

BUT alongside this we MUST ensure that..

🤘People have access to treatments, without a fight
🤘More research is funded to ensure the evidence base is there for all treatments, whether prescribed or holistic
🤘The conversation keeps going and that no-one is ashamed of talking about symptoms, especially in the workplace

Hot flushes in the boardroom should be fanned, not shamed.🧡🧡🧡

𝕃𝕖𝕥’𝕤 𝕥𝕒𝕝𝕜 𝕒𝕓𝕠𝕦𝕥 𝕄𝕖𝕟𝕥𝕒𝕝 ℍ𝕖𝕒𝕝𝕥𝕙

Depression, anxiety, mood swings, irritability, these are all symptoms of the perimenopause, and for some the most difficult to talk about.

My own experience of these was what led to Mbrace being born, now I talk openly, at every opportunity about the symptoms but more importantly the solutions to help people manage them.

Mental health is just one of the topics we delve into on our workshops. That's where my partner in crime comes in. Kay works full time as an Employee Assistance Programme counsellor for a global provider, delivering in-the-moment crisis support, single-session therapy, and counselling.

Kay also volunteers with Healthbox in Chester, Shropshire Mental Health Support and the National Trust as a school learning assistant.

At our workshops she'll guide you through some gorgeous coping practices and talk sympathetically, but with humour, about the emotional side of the perimenopause.

If this is something that would benefit you then join us for one of our workshops this year.

The next one takes place:

Where: Mayfair Community Centre, Church Stretton
When Friday February 23rd and March 1st.
