We have a confession: if we had to start all over again we’d still do everything the same. We can’t help but chuckle inside when people say, “It must be wonderful to play with flowers all day.” The truth is, being a florist is tough work, and we had no idea what we were getting into when we first started! Being a florist means dealing with:
Sore, cut hands;
It’s not always pretty and often messy;
Chilly work conditions;
No time for a proper break—if you do manage to grab one, it’s usually just a half-cup of cold coffee with leaves floating in it… but we still choose to see the glass as half full;
Evening phone meetings because everyone else is busy during the day, while you’re working every weekend.
Being a florist also means you’re part engineer and part math whiz. It’s about understanding the 3:5:8 ratio of flower stems for a balanced arrangement, but also knowing when to break the rules.
Sometimes, flowers wilt unexpectedly in the middle of a project. Deliveries from suppliers can be a mixed bag, with items missing or stems arriving without their heads! And let’s not forget those early mornings—4:30am is usually pretty dark whatever the season!
Time is tight when you can’t access the venue until 10am, but the ceremony kicks off at 12pm. 😳
However, being a florist offers a chance for creative expression;
It allows you to connect with amazing individuals and forge friendships along the way.
You get to work in stunning venues;
And you have the ability to turn someone’s thoughts into reality.
So, we have to admit that if we had the chance to begin anew, we would choose to do it all over again just the same.

The fresh layer of snow covering the fields and the chilly temperatures inspired thoughts of a winter wedding at @stockton_house that captures the spirit of the festive season. Using a deep colour scheme featuring black and white alongside warmer tones, complemented by the blues of Eryngiums and rich burgundy accents. We created an eye catching Moongate backdrop and full table runners showcasing seasonal blooms like Ranunculus, Anemones, Roses, Eustoma, Veronica, Eryngium, and Viburnum Berries, paired with a variety of foliage such as Conifer, Spruce, and Eucalyptus. This enchanting setup was complimented by candlelight and the charm of Christmas trees.

This wedding wouldn’t have looked out of place in the Californian sunshine: imagine a burst of vibrant colours, with hints of neon, creating a fun festival feel and laid-back ambiance. There was a light hearted vibe, but our bride put careful thought and consideration into every detail. Picture a backdrop made of streamers, adding a playful touch to the setting. The colour palette included striking hot pink, delicate soft pink, lively orange, calming sage green, and subtle off whites. To add a touch of elegance, a hint of gold was incorporated too. All in all, it was absolutely incredible!

When you hit the brief!
In the most part, we always try to capture the floral designs we create. We’ll then, much later in the day, pop them together in a reel, removing original audio and setting it against suitable music (or just a song we really like 🤣). Fancy huh? But not today: instead we’ve left the honesty audio in the background. It really made us chuckle but we also consider how many words of affirmation we edit from our footage.

This awesome duo had a colour palette inspired by the galaxy: the spectrum of colours ranged from
deep purple and midnight blue to aubergines and hot pink. The ceremony took place outside at @stockton_house in front of the Victorian Turning House. Pedestals flanked either side of the aisle with Pew end displays seated on the floor to line the aisle. Following the ceremony all outdoor arrangements were moved to The Wall Garden to dress the windowsills either side of the glass doorway.
