Sitting on the edge of South Shropshire Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Worthen Village Hall serves the community of Brockton, Worthen and the surrounding hamlets. Available for hire from £15 upwards per session rates for all types of events from children’s parties, fund raisers, concerts to weddings. The facilities include a kitchen, stage, dressing rooms, lighting and sound equipment. The hall can be configured from theatre style (just seating 140 capacity), cabaret style (up to 120 capacity seated at 12 x 5’ round tables), 18 trestle 6’x3’ tables in any configuration and 220 standing for concerts. Worthen Village Hall has been privileged to stage concerts by Tom Robinson, Peter Green, Ian Hunter (Mott the Hoople), Lindisfarne, The Yarbirds, The Sensational Alex Harvey Band & Dr Feelgood; as well as more locally grown entertainment of choirs, comedians, amateur dramatics and film shows on a 19’ projection screen. There is a fenced playground at the rear of the hall which has climbing frame, slides, swings, roundabout and seating area and this makes for a stopping off place once the children leave the Worthen CofE School at the end of the school day. The football pitch/playing field beyond is home ground for the local Brockton Rovers football team as well as the venue for annual Summer Fete whilst in the same grounds Worthen & Brockton Bowing Club have their Crown Green for bowling and they use the hall in the winter months with bowling mats. The hall and grounds are maintained and run by trustees drawn from local groups and charities and it is run as a community asset with charitable status Charity No. 502406. Worthen Medical Practice is attached to the hall and provides income to the charity whilst hall, facilities hire and fundraising from the committee of trustees, local residents and donations provide the other funding streams.
