As we are an agricultural society we thought we would countdown to Christmas with...
...interesting facts about these Bos ta**us 🐂

1️⃣ Farmers milk cows daily, even on Christmas!

2️⃣ Some farmers play festive tunes to keep their herds calm and happy.

3️⃣ Cows stay cosy in the cold thanks to their thick coats and natural heat generation.

4️⃣ Cow's milk has less fat and protein than reindeer milk.

5️⃣ Cows are sensitive and can remember people who have been unkind to them!

We are really pleased to be supporting Shropshire Scouts with a Rural Charity grant!

As Scouts in a rural county, the group needed support with transport costs to get 20 young people to Portsmouth to take part in a weekend with the Tall Ships Youth Trust ⛵

Tall Ships is the UK's oldest and largest youth development sail training charity and over the past 65 years, more than 120,000 trainees have sailed over two million nautical miles with them.

We are so pleased to be able to ensure that in 2025 Scouts from the 1st Bayston Hill and 2nd Long Mynd Scout groups will add to that list!

Huge thanks to Shropshire Chamber for providing a place for our Society Trustees to meet while the showground is flooded 🙏

It’s great to have the support of the Chamber and all of the businesses and volunteers who help us move forward after the water recedes.

Our offices here at the showground will be closed until further notice as we prepare for another flood at the site.

Please be careful around Gravel Hill Lane as the water rises. This driver is safe but the water will reach very high levels.

The DMOS People West Mid Showground Car Boot will not be happening this Sunday, 8th December. We’re truly sorry for the inconvenience.

This was meant to be our last event of the year, and it’s disappointing to have to cancel. But don’t worry - we’ll be back on Sunday, 30th March, ready for another great season!

We had the incredible honour of welcoming Margaret Thrower to officially open her father's restored greenhouse at The Shrewsbury Men’s Shed, located at the showground.

Once derelict, the greenhouse has been brought back to life thanks to the remarkable efforts and partnership of the Shedders and everyone involved.

In true celebration, we couldn't let this occasion pass without recognising our very own original TV gardener.
