What a terrific night we had on Thursday (5th February) with a new band, the ALVAR TREEFROGS. They certainly hit the ground running with their style of a New Orleans street band. Listen to their swinging version of SHOUT 'EM AUNT TILLIE.
GAV BROOM (Leader) - Trumpet, JON STOKES - Trombone, SAM BULLARD - Clarinet,
THOMAS GRAY - Guitar, MIKE POYSER- Tuba, GASPER SENA - Drums.

During the pandemic a number of our regular bands decided to retire leaving a void in the number of bands playing our type of jazz. The Alvar Treefrogs is a brand new band 10 years in the making. The band was born on Alvar Street, New Orleans, where one night the Treefrogs were heard singing their song. It then took 8 years to find the right players for the band and to get the music just right. They are: - GAV BROOM - Trumpet, JON STOKES - Trombone, SAM BULLARD - Clarinet, THOMAS GRAY - Guitar, MIKE POYSER - Tuba, PAT LEVETT - Drums. We are looking forward to a great night of 'our type of jazz' from the new kids on the block. Why don't you join us, we'd love to share the experience with you.

Due to carriageway resurfacing works by Bexley Council the whole of Cray Road, the main road outside the Club premises, will be closed from 7:00pm until 2:00am on Thursday 23rd January, meaning that we will be unable to access the Club by car. In addition, the bus routes will be diverted. In view of these problems the Jazz Club will be CLOSED on Thursday 23rd January 2025.

We will be back on 30th January with SARAH SPENCER'S TRANSATLANTIC BAND.

We have survived another year. Thanks to all the members that regularly attend but especially a big THANK YOU to all of the bands that have entertained us. It is the quality of the bands that makes the Club.
Look at our programme for 2025. Our favourite bands of course, but also some bands new to the Club. Hopefully there is something to suit all tastes in 'our kind of jazz'. Looking forward to seeing you in 2025.

An interesting evening at Sidcup J C yesterday with John Ellmer's SWISH. The band should have included Sarah Spencer in addition on reeds but unfortunately she was indisposed. John Ellmer didn't disappoint, bringing with him a full array of reed instruments - Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Soprano Sax, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax & Baritone Sax. Listen to the multi-talented Mr. Ellmer on Alto Sax and vocal with this version of LOUISIAN-I-A, with COLIN GRAHAM - Trombone & Valve Trombone, JOHN STUART - Banjo & Guitar, MURRAY SALMON - Bass, ROD BROWN - Drums.
