Stockings Full of Points!

Only the 1XV were in action this weekend against a battling Whitstable. The 2XV were handed a five point HWO.

Sittingbourne 1XV traveled down the coast to our old friends Whitstable this weekend and only one thing was in the lads minds… revenge and five points!

It was not going to be an easy task however. With a White and Blue VP’s day packing the clubhouse out and having lost to this team at home earlier in the season. It is never easy ground for us to get points at. With our captain opting the play up pitch against the conditions first, a quick start was needed. The SRUFC lads came flying out the blocks taking an early 2 try advantage, before Whitstable through a punch back off of a 60 yard intercept. Bourne countered with a bomb being blasted in the air and with a good chase Bourne alongside Rhys Price got their third try of the match. With a penalty kick also being slotted. Going into the break Bourne came out and secured their bonus point try with the conditions now in our favour as a battling Whitstable managed to get another two tries in the half. However, it wasn’t quite enough as we end the away day 17-25 winners!

Going into the festive season and new years off of an undefeated December, and 4BP wins consecutively. There’s no better feeling or way to say goodbye to 2024 and welcome to 2025.

So, from everyone involved at Sittingbourne Rugby Club, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years.

🥔 After the games, indulge in the legendary roast potatoes from Andy Donaldson & Sean Talbot, and don't miss out on his mouth-watering cheesy cauliflower cheese. Feel free to bring any leftovers from Christmas day to add to the festive board.

Festive fixtures!

Please find below your 1XV and 2XV taking the field this weekend.

The 1XV are away to a side that had always tested us to our limits. A side, in a game that can always swing either way on the day. Regardless of result it is never an easy fixture and I’m sure there will be sore bodies on both sides come Sunday… maybe even Christmas Day!

The 2XV are at home and face a vigorous 2XV. Again a fixture that has swung both ways in recent times but the lads are looking to continue their good form and end the year on a high!

Last game of 2024!

This weekend will signify the last match week of 2024! With both the 1XV and 2XV in action.

The 1XV face friends away from home soil. Whitstable last time out took all 5 points leaving us with nothing. The lads will be looking for revenge this weekend. Hopefully we will leave this festive fixture with our stockings full of points!

The 2XV face a tough team in 2XV. A fixture with mixed results for both sides in recent years however, earlier in the season the lads managed to claim the W, can they do the dirty double on this Vigo side this season?

Nail Biter at the Bourne!

This weekend was Vice Presidents’ day, with the match week sponsored by LiquidDiamondWines we only saw the 2XV take the field against Gravesend 3XV.

First and foremost… what a game of rugby! The affair was Physical,Fast,Slick all the things you could want, both sides perfectly balanced together with some experience and some youth.

But congratulations to our lads who put in a hell of a shift to come out with a result like this. Facing an opposition as sturdy as Gravesend 3XV are proving to be this season is no easy feat. Well done to the players who could have snuck a victory at the end if there was a bit more time!

Well played to Gravesend aswell, every punch (in a metaphorical sense) thrown by Bourne was met with a counter. Well done G’s

I think both sides can feel that 31-31 is a fair reflection of the game and if anything it kept the big Bourne sideline entertained throughout!

VP’s Day Squad!

There has been a slight change as we only see the 2XV take to the field (currently).

The 1XV have been handed a HWO this weekend therefore at the moment there is no game (however an alternative fixture is being sought after)

The 2XV are still facing 3XV. So all eyes are on this fixture! A big clash and a search for revenge as last time out Gravesend got the better of our boys. Will they do the same or will SRUFC’s 2XV with a packed sideline of home support be enough to see them over the line? (Hopefully they can cross the line many time’s like last weekend)

Two solid wins and 107 points scored by the Bourne!

This was a great weekend for Sittingbourne Rugby Club as it saw both 1XV and 2XV sides win decisively!

The 1XV were away to Old Dunstonians Who from the off had Bourne defending their line for a good 10 minutes but the lads managed to repel the big crashing onslaught of runners. Bourne after had control of the game, having secured the bonus point before the break Old D’s manages to get one back. The second half was similar offensively from a Bourne standpoint, however credit to Old D’s who never stopped and with the last play of the game managed to secure themselves a LBP. The 1XV claim a good away day victory of 24-41.

The 2XV faced rivals Sheppey 2XV and what a performance from the lads in blue and yellow! After a dominant first half performance the goal was to not concede a single point, which the lads did impressively. Dominant carrying and fast hands from SRUFC were too much to handle on the day leading to a monster 66-0 home W. (Fair to say the 2XV did the majority of the carrying when it comes to making up those 107 points!)

Best of luck to Old Dunstonians and Sheppey 2XV for the rest of the season and we look forward to the return fixtures!

The 1XV travel away to a long time wince these teams have faced each other who will come out on top this time? Bourne are looking to build on last weeks performance and continue the ascendancy up the league… and maybe ruin a lunch or two.

The 2XV host long term besties in 2XV. I don’t think this one needs much of an explanation, if you know you know!

Both games are not to missed so pick your desired location and you’ll be in for a festive treat!

Sittingbourne Rugby Club is excited to announce our Fifth sponsored player of the season! Jacob Butler

Jacob has had a rugby ball in his hands since he was a two years old. He has played for Sittingbourne Rugby Club since he was a young child. However, testing himself in rugby league and professional academy setups he still plays for his boyhood club. A natural Tight-head he has adapted into playing as an 8 this season. With his crashing runs he’s a handful to stop.

Dear Members! It's that time of the year again! Join us for our much-anticipated Annual Boxing Day Game. Let's make it a day to remember with fun, sportsmanship, and good times.

📅 Date: December 26th 🕚 Meet Time: 11:00 AM 🕔 Finish Time: 5:00 PM 📍 Location: The Rugby Club

Run off that Christmas Lunch and cure the hangover (obviously just the adults). After the game (and usually during!), we'll have refreshments, and everyone is welcome to bring their Christmas food leftovers to share. It's a great way to enjoy the festive spirit with friends, family & a cheeky roast potato!

An Early Christmas Present This Weekend?

This week see’s both 1XV and 2XV in action. With the 1XV away taking on who also host their Christmas lunch! While the 2XV host local rivals 2XV!

The 1XV face Old D’s in the league. Based on what I can find we have only ever faced this team once before back in 1998! So it’s a long awaited match up!

The 2XV face local long term rivals Sheppey 2XV. Sheppey having been promoted into the league will have a point to prove an especially against us!

So which ever team you choose to support this weekend you’re bound to be in for a treat. Following the 1XV away and seeing a 26 year match up or staying at home and watching the 2XV face our local rivals!
