Hello Bobbers!

After a wonderfully successful afternoon of live music from local performers followed by a spectacular concert from The Lowly Strung we’re asking, who would you love to see performng here in the intimate surroundings of Bobbing Barn our great little music venue set in the Kent countryside ?

We’d be really interested to hear your suggestions, don’t think we can can stretch to the likes of Steeleye Span or Fairport etc 😂

There really is only one place to be over the 1st - 4th August and that’s at the fantastic Family & dog friendly Chickenstock Music Festival.

Set in the heart of the beautiful Kent countryside this has to be friendliest and most welcoming big festival we have ever attended.

We are so happy to be returning again this year!

Amongst the many fabulous bands playing over the weekend, you can catch Shake Me Up Sally onstage on the Saturday and later in the evenings after the last band has finished remember to pop into the beer tent for some late night shenanigans when Capella will be hosting a singaround - it’s your chance to give us a song, join in with the choruses or just chill out for an hour before bed.

What fabulous weather we had on Sunday for Shake Me Up Sally and their show ‘Two Rivers’. Thank you all for coming and making it a great afternoon, sharing your songs and joining in all those wonderful choruses. We have had so many lovely reviews of the day and the concert. And thank you to Norman for running the singaround, to Chris, Claire and Ben for keeping us all fed.

Tickets for our next afternoon on 14th July are going VERY QUICKLY - only 7 left - so if you want to see the last ever (for the foreseeable future) concert by THE LOWLY STRUNG it would be a good idea to email us now! [email protected]

Well, as you can see, there has been a bit of rain here. When I went to take this photo, there were 2 moorhen having a paddle in the impromptu pond! Sadly, the state of the ground means that we have had to abandon plans for a Valentine’s sing as we can’t bring any cars into the garden, and you would have to wear your wellies to get to the toilet. We will let you know as soon as things improve. Fingers crossed for March.

CAPELLA - Tony & Lesley Petty- are one of Kent's finest & best-loved Folk Duos with traditional, seasonal & contemporary songs sung in beautiful two-part harmonies.
The music starts at 2 with a set from the guests followed by Floorspots from Singers, Musicians, Poets and spoken word performers.

This was one hour before going onstage for our big Shake Me Up Sally gig, full of nervous excitement but looking forward to it.

Delighted to say it all went really well and it was lots of fun playing to a large appreciative audience.

What a lovely afternoon of music, sInging and laughter we had at The Bobbing Barn Christmas Singaround.

Thank you to all our friends who came along and contributed to the fun, we hope you all got home safely through the snow, particularly those who’d travelled here from further afield.

It was a shame that we had to cancel the evening meal & quiz but bearing in mind the chaos on the roads it was definitely the right decision and we promise to be doing it all again soon.

Well we’ve managed to arrange some seasonal weather for tomorrow’s Bobbing Barn Christmas Sing and the fields around us are a beautiful frosty white at the moment, there’s even the possibility that we might see a light flurry of the white stuff tomorrow ❄️
but as you know we’ve moved into the house for this one, so we’ll all be toasty warm for a great afternoon of singing.

We’ll be greeting you with a cup of mulled wine and a hot mince pie and then later on during the break we’ll be serving hot Turkey and stuffing rolls with ‘proper’ roast tatties (sorry Aunt Bessie but yours just don’t make the grade) 🤣

There’s just the one H&S notice: Because we’ll be in the house and cosying up a bit more than usual it’s particularly important that if you feel you may have a cold or flu coming on, or you have any symptoms of Covid then we would kindly ask that you give it a miss this time and we’ll see you at the next one.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE RE; BOBBING BARN CHRISTMAS, PLEASE READ!

There's now just a week to go before our Bobbing Barn Christmas singaround and we're really looking forward to welcoming you here for lots of singing and joviality.

No doubt, like us you will have been seeing the weather forecasts and heard that the temperatures are due to plummet towards the end of next week with Sunday not getting above 3 deg!

Despite our best efforts we are not able to heat the barn to a comfortable temperature under these sorts of conditions and for that reason we are moving the event into the house instead.

We can seat around 24 people with plenty of additional 'milling around' space in the attached HEATED marquee/bar/Alice's travelling Restaurant and also in the adjoining kitchen so you'll never be far away from the action.

Sadly this does place a restriction on numbers although we're confident that we can still comfortably accommodate all those who have confirmed they are coming.

Unfortunately, at this point in time, if you haven't already told us that you're definitely coming then I'm afraid we are now full but hopefully we'll see you at upcoming Bobbing Barn events in 2023.
