Let's talk Thanksgiving day in Chicago.
A must is the parade, not as impressive as Philadelphia's, but still a fabulous experience. Starting at 8am this is a whole morning activity. Make sure you get a good viewing spot.
Then comes Thanksgiving lunch, something you really need to prebook. Our restaurant of choice had fabulous jazz musicians in residence to add to the ambience and served a great menu of traditional and creative choices.
The City is pretty much closed down as you head into evening but great to stroll and walk off some calories. Cold, crisp and picturesque. The perfect calm before a black friday storm!

We always love to do a walking tour and a food tour on our travels, so the secret Chicago food tour was a big box ticker.
Starting with the deep pan pizza 🍕 with cheese under tomato and the most delicious biscuit style base, honestly my favourite out of all the food on this tour.
A little stroll to try Oprah's favourite popcorn and then into Luke's diner for the hot dog. Don't even think of asking for ketchup that is a big no-no!
From sausages to something sweet to Italian beef sandwiches and finally...the brownie, created at the Palmer House Hilton. The walk takes around 2-3 hrs and takes you around The Loop, our guide Lance was brilliant 👏
Highly recommend this tour to future travellers but go hungry and have the brownie to go.

Out of Office, Chicago here we come!!
Us three musketeers are all set for another high five, yee-hah, USA Thanksgiving adventure. The out of office will be switched on at 3pm today.

That's one cool venue booked for Destination Families - A WILD lunch in Hertfordshire on 26th February 2026. After a morning on training, we will have the opportunity to explore our surroundings. Invitations will be landing very soon....it's going to be grrrrreat.

A little dog friendly staycation recommendation. Due to kitchen renovations, Barkley and I escaped to the Country and I am going to give a little shout out to our location, which looks straight out of a Hallmark Christmas movie. Amport is a beautiful village outside Andover and the pub with rooms, The Hawk Inn, is super dog friendly. This is part of the Upham Inn group. For £99 we had bed, breakfast, welcome drink, dog bed and welcome pack, oh and a little room upgrade. If I stayed again I would request a room away from the car park but this is a solid 8 out of 10 for accommodation but 10 out of 10 for location.
