One Month … we have been in our new home Earlswood Lakes Craft Centre x Its been superb - anytime we feel a tad stressy we just wander over to the fields and chat to the horses!
All our neighbours and shop owners have been very welcoming and we feel very settled. Thank you to all of you who have visited - new and old !

Been waiting for the Maintenance guy to clear the nettles at the back entrance to my new shop for ages - so thought i’d just crack on and get it done.

I had the most superb surprise yesterday! Just approaching another customer to ask if I could help and wondered why she was just standing, staring at me …..then slowly brain caught up NICKY NOO - visiting from Australia OMG ! A lovely friend and colleague from my days at Northampton CCG (as it was then) as a Public Health Dietitian over 25yrs ago 😳 - Nicky was part of our ‘squad’ as Lead Nurse. Great friend and just superb surprise - felt so very special and touched.

*So very glad she didn’t arrive 30mins earlier when I had 2 Tesco carrier bags strapped over my shoes and ankles as I was tackling the nettles at the back of the shop xx

Welcome to Bramble Bees Florist

At the heart of any local business is a story of courage, dedication and a splash of passion. Mine is no different.

Flowers, scents, and colours have always calmed my soul and ever my racing mind. I’ve been a registered dietitian for over 22 years and then, one day in 2017, I collapsed at work and had a rather spectacular seizure in the office. It was one of the most terrifying experiences of my life. Everything changed for my family, friends and me that day as I was diagnosed with Neurocysticercosis, This translates to an investigative tapeworm, who took a wrong turning (up instead of down), kicking off in my head and spilling his, not so lovely toxins, into my brain space!

When faced with any significant life changes, it makes sense to reassess your future and your goals. Bramble Bees Florist is a dream that became a reality. My courage to succeed is driven by the strong women who surround me, including my lovely daughter.

Following that first seizure, Heffe (yes, I named my cyst !), has caused me no end of trouble. The last three years have been challenging to say the least then to top it all off Heffe left me with epilepsy as his parting gift.

This experience has, however given me the driving force, and confidence, to start my own business and the want to provide beautiful blooms that bring joy and colour to you, my customers’ day. As a Dickens Heath resident for ten years, it’s also an honour to be an integral part of my local community.

Entrepreneurship runs in the family. I’m following in the footsteps of my wonderful mum who, after teaching until her late 50s, opened a coffee shop, and also my great Aunt Betty, an artist, whose beautiful floral illustrations have become the inspiration behind the Bramble Bees brand. You will see her ‘Betty Loves’ flowers all over the Bramble Bees window front.

Being part of someone’s journey, be it their birthday, wedding, end of life celebration, date night, or just because you want to say something, continues to remind me how precious life is.

I hope to bring that sense of wonder and delight to every person who steps inside the Bramble Bees shop when we open in September 2020, so please call in and say hello. You’ll find us in Dickens Heath (where the Smart Homes office currently are). Also don’t forget to come and say hi to the Ducks......
