We’re delighted to have been able to reschedule both the CANTUS Clarinet & Saxophone Day and the performance from CANTUS Clarinet Quartet for Sunday 27th April. Uptake is good, but there’s still some space for enthusiastic amateurs of all ages and we would be especially happy to welcome more teenagers and student players. Meanwhile, we are very much looking forward to our next event with Ezo Sarici performing with Duo Ekeš: Ezo Sarici (Violin) & Deniz Cengiz (Piano) on Sunday 16th March. We seem to have an orderly queue forming outside the Gallery at Barkham Exmoor. Sadly, we don’t have a performance to offer them, today. Does anyone know whose they might be? They are unmarked, other than for some blue ear-tags. If you, or anyone you know, is missing at least seven sheep, please do get in touch asap.

Our Community - Barkham

Barkham is just few minutes drive from the shop. It hosts superb musicians. This Sunday sees North Devon based concert pianist Caroline Clipsham giving an hour long recital at 3pm. As always the concerts are followed by tea, cake and the opportunity to meet the performer.

Do watch out for other concerts and events at Barkham.

North Devon-based concert pianist Caroline Clipsham will perform a sparkling programme of miniatures, ranging from Rimsky-Korsakov, Chopin, Rachmaninov to blues and more recent works. The recital will last approximately an hour and be followed by tea, cake and the opportunity to meet the performer.

We look forward to welcoming you back in the coming year, to expanding our outreach work and sharing our concert programmes more widely across the South West. We’ve been so busy planning ahead that we realised we still hadn’t shared some of the highlights of our wonderful November weekend with clarinettist/saxophonist Peter Nichols and pianist Margaret Roberts. On the Friday, Peter gave a delightful performance for guests of North Devon Hospice in their Café, then changed the mood entirely for the locals at The Poltimore Arms Brayford Yarde Down. Saturday was devoted to a Clarinet & Saxophone Workshop - these are proving so popular that the next one will be announced imminently - and on Sunday, Peter and Margaret were joined by Barkham Exmoor’s Leonie Anderson for a very well-received recital of trios by Schumann, Bruch and Mozart.
