Screwing shut the poly tunnel doors by head torch.

The wind is changing direction and the doors are going to take a hammering tonight 😬

The last storm pulled one door off its hinges.

Fingers crossed all my little seedlings will still be there in the morning.

The first of my autumn sown sweet peas.

I prefer to pre-sprout them between 2 pieces of damp kitchen roll. I then seal them in plastic food containers with the lid on to keep the kitchen roll damp.

I leave the containers inside (in the spare bedroom with the radiator off).

After a week, I start to check them every day until they’ve pretty much all sprouted.

I find I get much better germination rates doing this rather than sowing them straight into compost. Almost 100% germination on this lot.

I then put the sprouted seeds into root trainer pots and watch them grow.

These are mostly a mix of white, cream and blues, with a few pinks thrown in.

I’ll do another sowing in February of some stronger colours for later in the summer.

Everyone loves that sweet pea perfume. Something you’ll never get from imported, supermarket flowers.

Misty early morning from last week.

We’ve been planting hundreds of spring bulbs - which is hard work as the ground is pretty wet.

But it will be worth it once they start blooming - hopefully from the middle March with the first of the narcissi.

And here are the flowers bunched, wrapped and ready for Norton community shop.

They’ll be inside protected from the rain. It’s another miserable wet day - you need flowers to cheer you up.

Thanks to all the lovely Norton customers who have bought our flowers this year. And thanks also to the equally lovely staff.

This lovely lot will be made into bunches for .

We’ll deliver our last bunches there tomorrow.

Such a great little shop and post office. Run by the community, for the community.

We’re now focusing on getting the spring bulbs in the ground and sowing seeds for next year.

Roll on spring.

Probably our last pick for this year.

September hasn’t been kind to the flowers. It’s been wild, wet and windy for most of this month.

But we’ll be back bigger and better in the spring with even more flowers.

We’re increasing our growing space from 28 to 84 beds.

Which means we’ll be able to supply wholesale to florists.

If you’re planning DIY flowers for a wedding or other celebration next year, get in touch. We’ll be doing large buckets of flowers that you can arrange yourselves.

We’ll also still sell our bunches from the gate, and through local markets and shops.

Thanks to everyone who has bought flowers from us this year. We’ve enjoyed meeting you all.

Our last big pick for this year.

We’ll be at Martock farmers’s market today, Saturday 14 September from 10-1.

It’s a great little market with some fantastic local growers and producers.

Come and say hello and buy some lovely flowers.

We’ll be selling bunches from the field gate tomorrow, Saturday 7 September, from 10-1.

I have a huge number of straw flowers that are ready to pick for drying.

You can make some lovely garlands with them, (look on Etsy). Or you can use them to add a pop of colour to a Christmas wreath.

If you’re feeling really creative, check out the beautiful artwork created by Layla Robinson using dried flowers (last photo).

Message me if you’d like some.

We’re at Langport market today until 3pm. And the sun is shining - hooray!

Pedro’s ready to charm people into buying some of our flowers. Though really, he just wants some treats from friendly passers by.

Hope to see you if you’re in the area.
