The season for Seville Oranges May be short but you can keep the mouth-watering flavour for the rest of the year with our Seville Orange Marmalade recipe!
๐งก 1 kg Seville Oranges
๐งก 75 ml Lemon Juice
๐งก 2 kg Demerara Sugar
This should make 5- 6 jars. Youโll need to sterilise them with boiling water beforehand.
Scrub the oranges, remove the stem base. then halve them. Squeeze out the juice and keep for later. Using a sharp knife slice the peel, including the flesh and pith into thin, medium or chunky slices- what ever you prefer! Put the sliced peel and orange juice in a bowl with 2.5 litres of water to soak overnight. Next tip the mixture into a large,heavy based saucepan then simmer slowly, covered, for around 2 hours until the peel is tender and the mixture has reduced by about a third. Stir in the lemon juice and sugar then bring to the boil, stirring continuously to dissolve the sugar. Boil rapidly for 20- 25 minutes until setting point is reached. Leave to cool for 10 minutes, stir and pour into your sterilised jars taking care to seal immediately.
Makes a lovely home made gift and can be kept sealed for 2 years!!! ๐๐๐
