We are looking for someone to join our small and incredibly hard working team.

We need a pot washer/kitchen porter to work 3 days per week (Monday, Tuesday and Fridays) approx 24 hours.

It’s a physical job. It’s hot, wet and dirty however… you will be part of a fantastic team, no evening/weekend working and lunch/drinks provided.

Mother Nature plays a lot with our trade , this post from our trade magazine ,the hidden challenges we face .
Please think next time to see flower prices are higher than a supermarket and also consider the face we are only small and haven’t got the buying power of supermarkets, but also shopping in a local florist or any small local business we look after our product better than they do .

If you’ve flinched at the price of tulips blame it on the weather and don’t be surprised to see it continue. Because industry intel (Royal Flora Holland) is saying there’s been a 35% drop in production and a 44% increase in price!
It’s all to do with the fact that the bulbs didn’t just have soggy bottoms but drowned last year due to the horrendous levels of rain. As a result, there simply hasn’t been enough stock to supply growers (in whichever country) at normal levels and due to the rules of supply and demand, what has been available has cost more but quality isn’t as strong as the bulbs are smaller. A situation made worse by continuing bad weather during the current growing season.
What makes it tougher for independents is that consumers still tend to think of tulips as a cheap option; not helped by supermarkets often using them as a loss leader line - although we have noticed less per bunch in many of the major stores i.e. 7’s rather than 10’s but for the same price.
The advice is to buy the best grades you can or go for the more bespoke options like Parrots etc, tweak margin if you really can and – given this is predicted to continue into '26/'27 – be honest with your customers and explain that this is Mother Nature at play not you being greedy. If you have anything to add we’d love to hear from you.

To include : Pruning ,Cutting Back , Soil Improvement and winter colour.
A chance to see how to prepare for the months ahead and start next season in the best possible position for garden success.
10am-1pm Cost £80 includes homemade tea/cake .

🌟 Festive Wreath-Making Classes! 🌟

Drumroll, please... We're excited to announce we are hosting our first Christmas wreath-making class, starting next month with Minster Flowers from Southwell.

You’ll learn to create your own beautiful yuletide wreath from scratch, using a variety of winter foliage and decorations.

Light refreshments of cake, coffee and a glass of christmas fizz will be provided for you to enjoy while you craft.

The class will run from 11am to 1.30pm on SUNDAY 24th NOVEMBER

We had a fabulous day Southwell Ploughing Match and Show . We came home with best on show and the most points in the floral arts classes. Thank you to Home Bakefor printing the ribbons that are used to the hand tied class .
It was a brilliant day out on the autumn sunshine ☀️☀️

Update on our rescue bat ‘Bruce’ . Last night Bruce came back to our village to be released.
Bit reluctant at first but then sudden took off and joined the others that were flying round us. We wish Bruce good luck in the big wide world.
