Sowerby Bridge Fire and Water

Sowerby Bridge Fire and Water Creating a landmark centre for arts & culture, education and community in Sowerby Bridge It is an organisation for the community run by the community.

SBF&W is a not-for-profit organisation, initially set up as a limited company, run by a board of trustees and special advisors, all of whom are drawn from the local community. But anyone can become involved with the project and we expect the active membership to expand to reflect all sectors of the local community.

Tonight it’s Operation Beach Hut at Sowerby Bridge Fire and Water and not sold out. Come down, it will be great!

Note: parking close by can be an issue. There’s a huge car park at the station, 5 minutes walk away and a small car park at West End which is closer. Customers of Tesco and Lidl can park for 1.5 hours which isn’t long enough!

We've have four SOLD OUT shows in autumn already, with more very close.

Get booking if you're coming to see us over the nest few weeks!

This is a volunteer call-out! 📢

We’re looking to add to our team running the bar at events.

If this is something you’d like to do, we’re inviting you to do just an hour this Saturday at the Fire and Water Festival open mic. You’d be working alongside one of our regular volunteers who will show you the ropes.

Our Story

Fire & Water exists to provide facilitate and promote education, training and culture for the people of Sowerby Bridge.

Our aim is to provide a meeting place for community groups and organisations; support community events such as open days, pop-up events providing services to the community and exhibitions. We want to create a local history room, studio spaces, teaching spaces, studio theatre, venue, band rehearsal space, centre for public events, café, riverside garden and river viewing places, spaces for hire for community groups, workshop space, community storage spaces (e.g. depot for emergency tools and PPE), centre for community anchor facilities, spaces for hire or rent to individuals or groups.

In essence, we want to provide facilities, available to everyone in the community, where no similar facilities exist.
