It is with great sadness that the ‘Pell family’ have to announce that Alan passed away yesterday morning. Alan loved the Red Bus and making so many lovely friends on his village round. We will all miss him so much.

I expect you wondering when we’ll be bringing the bus out again. There might be a delay as I’m currey out of action laid up in hospital. So, although I was hoping to let you know of our start-back date, I can’t at the moment. But I’ll post something here as soon as I know. Cheers! Alan - RED BUS

Sorry to say that we won’t be able to work this Thursday (Whaplode Drove and Gedney Hill) and Friday (Parson Drove) due to illness. This week was going to be the last service for a while as we usually get the bus serviced in January. So it’s frustrating that we won’t be able to see our fantastic customers for a while.

Today we have some gorgeous top quality thick, flakey, white cod and haddock in our special crispy batter. 😋
Also, new Hot n’ Kickin’ chicken wings and choice of original Southern fried Chicken fillets or on the bone. Hope to see you later!

I was thrilled to hear from photographer Steve Smith who sent me pictures of our bus whilst in service in London between 1999 and 2004. Hope you find them interesting!
For bus nerds, Steve sent this info:
"Those on the (Route) 23 were taken at Marble Arch ( a good location for early evening pictures) and Mansion House near St Pauls Cathedral (a good but much more difficult location for long exposure / night pictures). I only managed one of it on the 7 but it was taken near the British Museum on the last evening of Routemasters on the 7 ( hence the special blind display). The bus was garaged at Westbourne Park and came out mainly on the 23 but occasionally on the 7. The staff at the garage took great care in maintaining their buses and they looked a treat on sunny days. Those days , alas, have long gone and I now live in Cornwall where Routemasters are virtually non existant.
