I’m an experienced baker and cake decorator based at Gedney Drove End, near Holbeach in South Lincolnshire. I make cupcakes, celebration cakes, party cakes, and “tea time treats” using good quality ingredients, including free range eggs, to order. I take your specifications and work with your ideas or themes to create cakes individual to you. I will do my best to cater for any special dietary requ

irements, e.g. dairy free, ingredients not including gluten, etc., but please be aware that as I work from my home I cannot guarantee that my cakes will not contain traces of nuts, dairy or gluten. I’ve been baking since I was a small child, encouraged by my mother, and my Nan. From an enjoyable pastime making small cakes and treats for family, I started taking an interest in cake decoration skills and completed a short part-time course whilst I was at college studying other subjects. I enjoyed the course so much I took over the traditional annual making and decorating the family Christmas cake from my father and was hooked! I started making cakes for friends’ parties and birthdays and getting compliments. That was quite some years ago now, but normal life took over and saw me reverting to only making Christmas cake, but then I discovered cupcakes – who knew that you could be quite so creative with these little cakes that we used to call “fairy cakes” when I was young? Again I was hooked – re-visited my love of making big cakes too, friends again started asking me to make them cakes – and here I am!

Holbeach farmer's market this Sunday. See you there?

The next Holbeach Indoor Farmers Market is on Sunday 2nd July. New stalls this time include Vegan Cookies, Brownies & Pastries, Drunken Ducks, Collectors Bears, Handmade Cruelty-Free Soaps & Relaxation products, plus our regular stallholders.

The last few stalls are available (suitable for artisan food and drink, or handmade local crafts) – please call 07977 889927 or message for details.

Back at Holbeach Town & Country Fayre again today. Looks to be a warm one again! Luckily we can keep the surplus cakes cool this year until needed which is a bonus. Today we have a spitfire flypast to look forward to. Arena activities kick off at 10 am with the beautiful heavy horses and include the children's motorcycle display team who were really impressive yesterday.

This coming weekend is one of the larger events for this area, being Holbeach Town & Country Fayre and this year as previous I will be there both days with my cupcake stall. Supplies of chocolate topped cupcakes will be limited for obvious (weather related) reasons, but there should be a few available early on in the day before things heat up too much! A bit of a delay in posting this, as I was waiting for details so that I could credit the florist, but congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Fysh who were married in the most fabulous setting a fortnight ago. This was a monster of a cake with extra extra tall tiers of chocolate, lemon and vanilla cake, simply decorated with plain white sugarpaste, gold initials and fresh flowers. Transported all the way to Bury St Edmunds then stacked and piped on-site. Thank you so much to Carrie at Rose & Thorns for supply and arrangement of the fresh flowers. I'm sorry to say that I have today confirmed to the organisers that I won't be able to attend the Holbeach Indoor Farmers Market this coming weekend as I'm still not quite up to baking the stock and manning the stall with my wrist still in a splint. Its not a decision I have made easily as I will lose my stall fee, but with a wedding order coming up shortly I don't want to push beyond what I am currently capable of, and cause later issues for the upcoming wedding order. I am reasonably confident I should be recovered enough for the April market.

Good afternoon everyone.I just thought I'd update everyone with the current situation. You may have noticed I've been a bit quiet recently and this is because I had a little accident and broke my wrist, resulting in an operation and a cast. This means at present I'm not taking any new orders until I have a prognosis of when I'm likely to be back in action. All existing orders are being honoured with my husband kindly stepping in and brushing up on some old skills whilst very quickly learning a lot of new ones! I'd like to give him my biggest thanks as otherwise I would have had to cancel a few orders. Normal service hopefully to be resumed as soon as possible but I'm definitely out of action for at least the next month.
