Check and divide dahlia tubers is this afternoons task. Some are a little shrivelled but hopefully if I can get them potted up quickly they might just make it 🤞🏻

Happy 1st of February! We made it!
I’m pre sprouting some petite florets this morning🌱 I got the packet too late last year to start them off so I’m starting half the packet now and I will start the other half next month. These will go in the bed in my garden that currently have tulips in and will purely be for the bees 🐝. However if I find a cracker amongst them I will make sure to save the tuber for next year.
I love the surprise that comes with dahlia seeds.

Tulip bulbs have just arrived and they are whoppers! These are going to be some huge tulips come next spring! So excited 🌷 🌷 🌷

Anyone else felt that shift in the breeze the last couple of days? There’s that fresh nip in the air. Autumn is definitely on our doorstep and I’m here for it. I love the changing of the seasons, and Autumn is a firm favourite 🍂
I’m going back down to the Croft today to finish off the weeding. I managed to get 3 and a half rows cleared yesterday and hoping to get the other 4 finished this afternoon
Keeping my fingers crossed everything will be in one piece after the high winds through the night 🤞🏻😩

Back from Scotland and another new dahlia has made an appearance! I love it 😍 The ball varieties have the longest vase life in the dahlia range (5-7days) and I’ve been trying to figure out which ones I want to scale up on next year. This is definitely a firm favourite for next years collection!

I cut deep with the dahlias last night so I’m hoping the next flush will have lovely long stems ready for cutting in a couple of weeks. I also counted the dahlias in my garden last night, 17, all which are still in bud and haven’t opened yet and about 10 at the croft still in bud, so plenty more still to come 😍🌸
