Due to the weather conditions Romiley Christmas Market has been cancelled for today, another date to be confirmed soon. However our shops and cafes and bars are still open all day today so please support them in anyway you can 🎄🎄🎄

Next time on your drive to work whilst stuck in traffic looking around you, you'll see all the usual cohorts of shops, Spar, Tesco express to name but a few, but look again and you'll find a florist too. Years ago people would brag about having a pub or a post office in their district, sadly many of those are gone now, but still the florist is there, probably the last of the high street manufacturers left, gone is the cobbler, the tailor, baker and the candlestick maker, but still the florist remains.
There within lies, in many cases the heart of the community, where folk do the serious stuff of celebrating their family events, be it happy or a sad occasions.
There within lies a success story worthy of old fashioned values, you see there is no easy rise to the top in this industry. Every owner has to work from the floorboards up, starting at college ( yep the trade still does apprenticeships. )
There lies within a boss that has to up to scratch on :-
Sales-Buying/purchasing-Pricing-Production manager-Marketing-Bookkeeping -Human resources-Hiring /firing-Debt collecting-Tax specialist-I T manager-Social media.-Event organiser-Accounts.
-
Oh and of course a brilliant florist.
There with in lies.
An industry which was severely hampered by the recessions & pandemics, who took on the supermarkets and survived .... Why ..... because florists know there is one group in society that loves flowers more than them, you the public.
So tomorrow on your drive to work, don't just see the multinational coffee shops, the mini-supermarkets or the bookies, see the heart of your community, see the place that brings employment to the local people and the youth, see the place that brings happiness to every family occasion, but above all that, see people behind the scenes, bringing you all that stuff.
Oh, and pop in spend just a few pounds and cheer up you partner or the house, your smile will encourage your very skilled local florist no end.
Shop local ...... it's good for everybody !!!!
