Headline news this morning: RISE IN MEGA FARMS!

You may have heard on the news that there is an increase in the number of ‘Mega Farms’ in the UK. Whilst that is true to some extent, there are still plenty of family farms around the UK producing plenty of high quality food.

We started off with 4 chickens and over the years we have grown, but our principles remain the same and all of our chicken housing is significantly smaller to that of supermarket produced eggs.

Our average chicken shed houses 800 birds compared to 16-32,000 birds in supermarket housed egg producing chickens. Our smaller group sizes give the chickens plenty of natural space, keeping them happy and healthy to produce the best quality eggs around.

🛌😴 Well, here we are: the night before! Despite the pretty dire forecast, we're both still very excited to take on our biggest challenge so far! Bags are packed, alarms are set, and we've settled in to our cosy B&B for a last good night of sleep to set us up for getting some steps in. 😄

🪙 Fundraising is going very well: we're currently at around £850 (JustGiving + cash donations too) so we're so close to our goal of £1,000! Thank you so much to everyone who's so kindly donated and/or spread the word! ❤️🙏

🥾 👣 Tomorrow we will be completing the Peak District Ultra Challenge, hiking 100km through the white and dark peaks of our beautiful Peak District to raise money for this excellent cause:

🇹🇿 🏫 The Derby Grammar School Tanzania Project aims to improve the lives of children in the Mwanza region of Tanzania, where 46.55% of residents experience severe poverty. They have been raising money, making donations and travelling there to do charitable work every summer since 2013 to support Gedeli B School, Amani School, Hisani Orphanage and Forever Angels Orphanage.
