Mark Hayden has worked in some of the country’s busiest and most exclusive kitchens up and down the country – from the glamour and glitz of the Savoy Grill to Claridges’ classical surroundings. Now he is working in the Woodland Kitchen combining more than 20 years experience to produce exquisite dishes for those special events – everything from a family celebration to a sumptuous charity banquet – along with his own range of smoked artisan products.

A sad day for the team today, as we say goodbye to a close friend of the kitchen, Geoff Melling. Mark will miss his yearly catch up's at Christmas, which he always came along to with his lovely daughter Sam, collecting all of his products to enjoy over the festive period. Having looked after a couple of events for the family over the years, they are forever VVIP's of The Woodland Kitchen, and we're honoured to have been asked to arrange something extraordinary for them, on what is such a difficult day.

From Mark, Stuart and the rest of the team, our heartfelt condolences to the Melling family, and goodbye to Geoff, a lovely gentleman and friend.

We also had some EXTRA special help from an in house sous Chef, which Mark was thrilled with... see if you can spot them...

What. A. (Sun)Day! Thank you so much for everyone that came to our Ultimate Sunday Roast extravaganza at The Castle Inn on the 10th September. Chef and the team have just about recovered from a really busy weekend, but it was all absolutely worth it! We've been seeing some lovely photos of the day, of all of our customers enjoying a great time, and it's been a delight to hear all the positive feedback... well done team! It's not all that often that Chef is left a little speechless, but today was an exception, when an incredibly generous gift and note arrived to thank the whole team for their efforts when we looked after them for their wedding day. It's sometimes been difficult over the last few years in the catering industry, with the challenges we've all faced, but gestures and moments like this are what make it all worthwhile... thank you so much Katie and Graeme! It's been a real pleasure to look after you!
.. and a big thank you to all of our hard working team for helping us make this all possible, as well as the team at Serving Services who have become a big part of our recent events too. Thank you all!

Our award winning hot, spiced, smoked salmon is back in stock... and with wholesale prices dropping, now back to £40/side! Catch yourself a side before they run out!

Our Great Taste, Gold Award winning salmon is now back in stock at the kitchen, freshly smoked and ready to fly (swim) off the shelves! Shetland farmed salmon, dry cured in sixteen different ingredients including cumin, chilli, citrus and coriander.

And the best news? It's back in stock at our regular price of £40/side! As I'm sure everyone has noticed, food prices went up dramatically last year, and unfortunately it meant that we had to increase our prices accordingly. However, it is with great pleasure to say that our wholesale cost are now back down to normal for our salmon sides, and we are passing the reduction back to you. If you'd like a side before they sell out, just email [email protected] and we'll help arrange that for you.

Chef has a habit of getting excited. Sometimes he'll phone up to let you know that he has perfected a jus, or has created the most incredible new dish. However... I have never heard Chef quite as excited as I did last week when he arrived at a VIP clients house to start a three course sit down meal, with canapés to start and a cheeseboard to finish, for a Golden Wedding anniversary.

"You have GOT to see this house, IT IS AMAZING!"

Needless to say, Chef asked if he could take a few photos, and so the question is... 'who lives in a house like this?' I believe that Chef is currently trying to find a way to move in without anyone noticing...
