Teversal Manor Room

Teversal Manor Room Additional services such as audio visual equipment and catering are available on request

The Manor Room consists of a single meeting room decorated in a traditional style, and a separate kitchen area, which can be hired by the hour for any type of event. Built in the mid-eighteenth century initially for use as barn, the Manor Room was converted into a school in 1881 and bequeathed by The Countess Carnarvon, the Lady Elizabeth, to the local villagers, and subsequently transferred to T

eversal Parish Council in 1929. On the dissolution of the Parish Council it was taken over by the Sutton-in-Ashfield Urban District Council. Eventually the Grade 2 listed building became unsafe and needing significant repairs it was closed in May 2001. However since then with the valued help of Ashfield District Council and the support of the local residents a successful bid was made for a lottery grant to refurbish it, being restored in the style of one of its former uses, a late Victorian school house. In March 2015 the Manor Room underwent a major internal redecoration, resulting in a transformed interior, befitting a beautiful facility in a picturesque setting. The Manor Room is a delightful facility managed by a committee of local volunteer residents.

Online Archive

The Heritage Group has been digitising its archive and the first tranche of documents has been uploaded and is available to view on the Village website http://www.teversal-village.org/Heritage-Archive/.

The archive will be added to as time allows but already provides a wealth of information about Teversal, its past and the people who lived here. Teversal Heritage Group hopes that the archive will provide a resource to those carrying out research on the area and its inhabitants and be of interest to those who are simply curious. Users are asked to heed the warning on the website concerning copyright and other constraints affecting the use of the material in the archive and if in doubt contact the Group via the online link for more information.

Many thanks to all those who turned out to help with the Litter Pick in and around Teversal Village on Sunday. A great job was done by all.
Thanks also for the team of four who helped clear the fallen logs from the Manor Green, which is now far better and shouldn't foul the mowing machine when it is cut.
A camouflage patterned coat was left in the Manor Room on Sunday. It is there available for collection if the owner lets me know.
Herewith a photo of some of the worthy litter pickers outside the Manor Room alongside their haul of rubbish.
