LOVELY TO MEET YOU! – June is upon us and wedding season is in full swing!

For those that don’t know me, I’m Georgina, founder and award-winning wedding planner at Georgina Alexander Weddings. I create elegant, modern and memorable experiences built on a foundation of quality, and attention to the details, across the UK and beyond.

I’m all about the details, from detailed spreadsheets and complex logistics plans, to the pretty of designing spaces and tablescapes that speak of your wedding vision. My superpower is bringing all the pieces of your wedding puzzle together, and your wedding vision to life. I’m at my happiest when I’m creating elegant and modern love stories, true to you as a couple. It’s the best job in the world and I still pinch myself that I get to work with wonderful couples to plan their most important day, I feel privileged to be part of your wedding story.

Outside of planning and designing beautiful weddings, I love spending time with husband and furry cat baby, binge watching legal and medical dramas, and sipping on skinny lattes and Passionfruit Martinis.

This weekend I’m also celebrating my birthday, so the champagne will be flowing and I’m embracing becoming another year older.

FAQ - Our venue offers a complimentary wedding/venue co-ordinator so why would we need a wedding planner as well?

Two very different roles, a Venue/Wedding Co-ordinator works solely for the venue, and their main role is to act as the liaison between you, and the venue on-site operations team. They’ll work closely with you on all the areas of your wedding that relate specifically to the venue, such as venue show rounds.

Once you’ve booked the venue, they’ll be in touch just before the wedding to confirm your final numbers, and logistics. On the wedding day itself, they are responsible for everything venue related – making sure the spaces are unlocked so your suppliers can set up; making sure there’s accommodations for any guests with accessibility needs, and so on. They’ll have someone on hand at the beginning of the day, and normally hand over to someone on the operations team mid-way through the day, departing typically after the first dance.

As an independent, professional Wedding Planner, I work for you. I’m here solely to ensure you have an unforgettable wedding experience from start to finish. I’ll know every minute detail of your wedding to the same level as you (and sometimes more) and I’m best equipped to manage the day so it runs as smoothly as possible.

I’m here to support you throughout the process, be your advocate and chief supporter. On your wedding day itself, I’m the point person for your supplier team and guests, fielding all the queries and working in harmony with the Wedding Co-ordinator at your venue.

WEDDING PREP - It’s head down here at GAW HQ with final preparations for G&O’s wedding later this month. So in love with their stationery suite, those colours are just perfect for a Summer wedding.Design and logistics plans are complete, and the last few details are ready to be finalised. The rest of this week will be spent working on the detailed wedding information timeline, I’m so excited to see all the plans for this lovely couple come together.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY M & J – Two years ago Megan & Jake said ‘I do’ over the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend. American girls meets English boy, their wedding was a fusion of cultures that incorporated both their personalities.The sun shone, the wine flowed, the food was plentiful, and the love and joy for these two was in abundance.

WELCOME SIGN – At A&L’s multicultural wedding, they chose to greet their guests in all the languages they speak. This personal touch was especially meaningful, as many of guests had travelled from all over the world to celebrate with them.There are lots of different ideas for Welcome Signs, if you’d like one as part of your wedding day stationery. Here are some of my favourites:

- Mirror Welcome Sign – elegant and stylish, you can add printed or calligraphy decals to the mirror, with your welcome message.

- Acrylic Sign – keep it modern and minimalist with a clear of frosted acrylic sign with elegant fonts, displayed on an easel.

- Fabric Banner Sign – elegant and whimsical, fabric signs can be printed or hand painted, and hug from wooden frames.

Adding candles or floral arrangements to the base or top of the sign adds extra interest and brings the look together.

HYDRANGEAS – Romantic and elegant charm in a variety of colours, these voluminous blooms are a wonderful addition to your wedding flowers.They are great when mixed with roses or peonies, adding texture and depth and whilst still looking elegant and refined.

These gorgeous blue hydrangeas were paired with delicate glass candlesticks to create a simple, modern tablescape for an al fresco dining table. Elegant stationery and simple knotted napkins completed the look.

REAL WEDDING – Chloe & Jamie’s wedding was a day filled with sunshine, love and laugher. Overlooking the stunning city of Bath, they celebrated their union in the Chapel of Prior Park College, followed by their wedding breakfast in a marquee set on the lawn.A jazz singer and Gatsby dancers provided guest entertainment during the afternoon festivities, and guests danced the night away while the sun set on the horizon.

FAQ – MONEY - Can you save us money on our wedding? Weddings are an investment and a huge undertaking, regardless of how big they are. Having a wedding planner on board is an additional cost to consider, however having the reassurance of an expert on board to manage the process and the day itself is worth it in the long run. I don’t promise that I will save you money as I believe that asking for discounts devalues suppliers and their work. I will however, make sure that quotes received from suppliers are fair and if necessary, negotiate on your behalf for better terms if appropriate.

WEDDING CAKE BLISS – The tradition of wedding cake symbolises prosperity and good luck, but if you’re not a fan of cake, or it doesn’t alight with your wedding style or celebration, there are other alternatives you can choose instead. Dessert Bars are a fun way to share your favourite sweet treats with your guests. You could include items such as cupcakes, macarons, cookies, brownies; giving your guests options and adding an interactive element.

Incorporating desserts from your cultural backgrounds or heritage adds a personal and meaningful touch to your day.

Alternative dessert options that reflect your taste and personality such as crepe cakes, ice cream sundae cart, donut wall, popcorn station or tower made of different cheeses.

Treat towers are the ultimate combination of cake and treats. Incorporating a single tier cake and your favourite sweet treats, it’s the best of both worlds – the memorable cake cutting photo and interactive element for your guests.

FLORAL FANTASY – An abundance of florals for C&M’s August wedding. Overlooking the city of Bath, @ flourishandgrace created this gorgeous deconstructed arch, the perfect focal point for the ceremony on the Portico of Prior Park College.Timeless, elegant and romantic, the arch included a mixture of roses, hydrangeas and textured foliage. The same aesthetic carried through to the reception table styling.

CLIENT LOVE – Being part of Andreea & Lucas’ wedding was a true joy! STEPPING INTO MAY – M&J’s gorgeous summer wedding was filled with personal touches that included signature cocktails and their favourite musical medleys. Sparkly cowboy boots and glittery cowboy hats injected some fun American touches to the evening, as a nod to their life in Denver, Colorado.

The day started with torrential rain, but by the time guests arrived for their afternoon ceremony, the sun was shining and everyone was able to enjoy drinks and canapes on the lawn.

BLANK CANVAS – For C&D’s Summer wedding, we transformed the Belvedere Suite at Pembroke Lodge to an English Garden. Elegantly modern with chic simplicity, a sensory experience of scent and texture.Trailing and textured foliage with abundant seasonal blooms and delicate accents of flora filled the space, with urn arrangements, deconstructed floral arch and tall centrepieces gracefully placed on silver stands.

English foliage and Eucalyptus were paired with seasonal blooms of Lisianthus, Jasmine, Wax flower, Cosmos, White O'hara roses, spray roses, Hydrangeas and Delphiniums.

The colour palette was soft and natural with white, cream, greens and accents of sage green to complement the bridesmaids dresses. The table styling complemented the florals with textured linen, charger plates and crystal glassware. The chairs were elegantly swathed with chiffon which added to the ethereal and romantic aesthetic.

ANNIVERSARY– This day, 11 years ago, my husband and I said ‘I do’ at a Tuscan style villa in Sonoma, California.Surrounded by vineyards, orchards and oak trees, we were swept away by the natural beauty of the gorgeous Inn, located in the heart of California wine country.

Our intimate destination wedding was a celebration of our favourite things – fine dining, fine wines, and stunning surroundings.

After our ceremony, we dined al fresco by the pool, and enjoyed the most incredible three course meal with our favourite people.

I couldn’t do what I do without the love and support of my wonderful husband - Happy Anniversary!

NANCY & JAMES – Celebrating their first wedding anniversary today! It was an honour to be part of their supplier team and manage their wedding day.

Their wedding began with their ceremony at York House in Richmond, followed by drinks, canapes and a delicious lunch at Petersham Nurseries. The party continued at So Bar where they danced the night away with their guests.

A day filled with love, joy and personal touches, not to mention inclement English Spring weather - the rain plan had to be executed!

Here’s what they said about working with me:
“Georgina was brilliant in helping us plan the logistics for our wedding and primarily helped us manage our wedding on the day.

We had an early start and 3 separate venues which she handled effortlessly. We also had a rainy start to the day which meant last minute change of plans and she was flexible and quick with plan “B”s which was a relief. If there were issues - we didn’t know about them which is why we were able to enjoy our day completely!

She took away the stress leading up to our wedding by helping manage our vendors. She had great advice and expertise while we were planning and was always cheery and ready to help. Would highly recommend Georgina for all wedding planning needs.

WEDDING FLAT LAY – A flat lay showcases your wedding accessories and details. These often include your invitation or other stationery, your engagement and wedding rings, other jewellery you’ll wear on the day, your bridal shoes, your wedding day perfume, heirloom items that might have sentimental value, ring box and a few blooms in your wedding colours.Flat lays are a great way to bring together your wedding details and accessories, setting the scene for your wedding all in one photo.

Collate your wedding day details ready for your photographer when they arrive, they’ll have some time before your wedding begins to style and photograph your accessories and details before the whirlwind of your wedding day.

This flat lay for C&M’s wedding included Claire’s bridal shoes, engagement ring, veil and wedding perfume.

SIGNATURE COCKTAILS – Serving your favourite cocktails or mixers are a great way to inject personality into your wedding.Create a signature cocktail, or your twist on a classic, and share with your guests during the drinks reception. Alternatively, add some time after the meal for an informal cocktail hour.

There are lots of fun and creative ways to display the cocktail menu, and the cocktails themselves too.

Which cocktails would you choose? My choice would be Aperol Spritz or a Pornstar Martini!

COWBOY SPARKLE – Oh my gosh, how fun are these sparkly cowboy boots Milina wore for her wedding?!

An English couple living in Denver, Milina & Joel wanted to include some fun elements of their life in the USA, and these gorgeous cowboy boots made an appearance in the evening once the party got started.

Mixed with an array of glittery cowboy hats and line dancing, it was a fabulous night that oozed personality.

WHIRLWIND – How is it April already??! A quarter of the year is nearly complete, and it’s been a whirlwind so far.I’ve been a little absent on social media lately. It’s been an incredibly busy year so far and sometimes there just aren’t enough hours in the day to keep up with client work and everything involved in running and marketing a business. I feel so privileged to be in this situation, and I’m constantly grateful that I get to do a job I love.

With lots of new wedding bookings for this year and next, I’ve been immersed in planning, design plans and logistics. This week is all about supplier recommendations for two beautiful weddings, and finalising details for a June wedding in the Cotswolds – it’s going to be incredible!
