Now the bees have actually arrived, they are all over this plant. It seeds like crazy, even the excess plants I pulled out the salad bed are flowering in the compost heap having survived the winter.
So I don’t need the millions of seeds I saved last year.
Would anyone like a pinch?
Free of charge, purely to help the bees out and spread a bit of beauty 😍

This is bigger than the bouquets I do - mainly driven by me wanting something crazy for the house this week.

No wonder the flowers were huge, look at the size of that tuber!

I’ve got to work setting up the dahlias in the greenhouse today to grow in the warmth for a few weeks before planting out in May.

Sounds like an easy enough task but I’m fifty dahlias in, and a lot are a similar size to this beauty 🤩

Finally got round to digging through the compost bins, and found a huge amount of Black Gold at the bottom of the first one.

Something is living in the second one so Rogue was on hand to make sure nothing escaped without her noticing. And of course she was there as the Compost Quality Control Officer.

I’ve never made a wreath before, but I really enjoyed making this one.
I should have been making it with friends, with Christmas music on and mulled wine being poured.
But our house got Covid, so it was just me and my very non festive lemsip.

All foraged from the garden or grown, dried and stored ready for this project.

I’m considering making more wreaths and dried arrangements for the last few months of winter - let me know below if you’d be interested!

Hello everyone!

With a potential frost forecast for the weekend, the battering rain and the howling wind, I’m sad to say that the fresh flower season is over for this year.

Thanks so much to everyone that’s bought a posy or a bouquet from me this year: it’s really been fantastic to have so many folk buying locally grown organic blooms with zero flower miles (ok maybe a few depending where you live…) and next to zero carbon footprint.

In fact with the sheer number of insects my flower patch supports, it’s having a really positive impact on our little corner of the world.

Stems are short, petals are battered, but the bees still think the flowers make a fantastic food source and shelter. The sunflowers are leaning or falling, but the birds are feasting ready for winter. And dropping a few seeds whilst they’re at it, saving me a job for next season.

I may have some dried arrangements available in the run up to Christmas if my dried flower harvest holds up.
I’ll share any details right here!

Have a great weekend all.

Hello all!
After the lovely weather for the last few days the flowers are looking pretty good!
Lots of things are going over now, but I plan to cut everything that’s looking good later today before all the rain that’s forecast tomorrow.

If anyone would like a £5 posy or a £10 bouquet tomorrow, let me know!
