WEDDING MYTH - Marquee/DIY weddings are cheaper
The beauty of a marquee wedding is that it offers you a totally blank canvas to create the wedding of your dreams. However, there’s often the misconception that pulling together all the elements yourself will make your day cheaper. While we hate the term ‘hidden costs’, with a marquee wedding there is usually more to it than most couples initially think, so it’s important to price things up beforek you make your final decision.
Here are a few things you may not have thought of:
* Furniture & Lighting - Tables and chairs, bars, dancefloors and lighting.
* PA System
* Toilets
* Generators for electricity
* Heating (think about the great British weather)!
* Caterers and Bar – sometimes they ask you to provide additional marquee space or catering tables. * Tableware – (crockery, cutlery, glassware and linen) will usually need to be hired separately too.
* Styling – lighting, flowers, props and even a stylist to help plan, source and execute your dream theme!

That’s it folks! We are taking our foot off the gas for a couple of weeks and hope you will be able to do the same. Have fun but you don’t need to give in to the pressure to do it all. If we have learned one thing in the last 2 years is you need to take timeout for yourself to have the energy for the people you love.

A&T came to us 2 weeks ago looking for Tipis. They had a lovely indoor venue but due to restrictions using the inside space would have meant cutting their guest list in a big way.

Our new 10m x 28m Aurora Sailcloth!! We orders this beautiful before the pandemic but had to wait until we know weddings could happen before we bought it.
So excited for our lovely couple who get to use it for the first time. They came to us in early spring after calling 20 marquee companies to see if they had availability and then they found us. We’re doing the brides sisters Tipi wedding next year as well 🤩
We’re on the recommended supplier list on Rock My Wedding. Their new website looks fab!

To all our 2021 couples you are very likely to have your day your way. We are so excited to be part of your wedding next year.

Our gorgeous wreath from @marthaandthemeadow is up on the door and we are going out to get our tree today. This year is the first year our little boy really understands Christmas so it will be that much more special.

And although the restrictions mean we won’t be celebrating with all our friends and family we really appreciate being able to have a few come and spend the holidays with us!

Plus we have a few of our Tipis up at some gorgeous pubs so we can meet for a meal with @janetrelfe (aka Nana) 🥰

We have a couple of Tipis left on the shelf so we are ready for any last minute micro winter weddings and cannot wait to get back into the warehouse next spring to add to our catalogue of extras!

MUSIC ~ yesterday was the 35 year anniversary of Live Aid. Although I was only 4 years old and Owen was 4 months old it has had an impact on us.

Music is a hugely important part of our lives. The first conversation we ever had was about The Libertines and from that point onwards we have spent many hours talking about, listening to and watching live music.
•
The highlight of our Coastal Tents career is still IOW 2017. We had the privilege of putting up our Tipis for the backstage VIP bar. Arcade Fire, Sharleen Spiteri and Peter Crouch to name a few drank @copperdogwhisky cocktails in our Tipis 🍹
•
As well as seeing Texas, Arcade Fire, George Ezra, Rod Stuart and Bastille we also got to see Alison Moyet and the The Pretenders who both performed at Live Aid back in 1985.

We won’t be forgetting this weekend in a hurry 🤩

We’ll be listening to some golden oldies from the 80s this week including Queen, David Bowie and The Beach Boys 🎶
