Established in 2006, The Swansea Mobile Foot Clinic are continuing to promote the importance of foot health within the Swansea area. We offer treatments in the comfort of your own home or the opportunity to come along to one of our several health clinics within the Swansea area. All ages are welcome whether treating a child with a verruca, young women needing a medi ped before a summer holiday or the elderly who are having difficulty treating their feet and need a helping hand.

BOOK EARLY to avoid disappointment.

I have received about half a dozen plus requests to book the Hall over the weekend and several last week. In all but one case, the Hall was already booked as were alternative dates. In one case Mum had enquired about availability some weeks ago without making the booking and someone else had subsequently booked the required date.

The Hall receives a variety individual bookings for Children's Parties, Funerals, Weddings, Panto and Dance, meetings of various groups from the Health and Voluntary sectors and this week (4th May) an auctioneer's valuation session (Have you got treasure in your attic?)

Booking can be painless with booking forms issued and received by email and the electronic transfer of hire fees by the BACS system.

The Memorial Hall has been very busy this year as people catch up with children's birthday parties, blocked in the past few years by the Covid restrictions.

In addition to these we have a number of regular and ad hoc users throughout the week and at weekends including the Mission Church, Short Mat Bowls, Guides, Quilting group, Bird shows, Dance groups, Pantos and some NHS and Voluntary Organisation meetings. Most recently the Swansea Council Emergency team arranged for the Hall to be a temporary respite for those people evacuated following the house explosion, widely reported in the media.

If you are planning for some event in the coming months, please be aware that we allocate bookings mainly on the basis of first come, first served and advance booking is strongly recommended to secure preferred dates.

You are welcome to discuss your wishes with Bob Young, the Bookings Secretary and it may well be that an acceptable alternative date is available if your first choice has been taken.

The Memorial Hall is home to the Morriston Short Mat Bowls Club which meets on Monday and Wednesday afternoons. from 1.30 pm to 4,00 pm.

The game is quite remarkable as it is one of the very few competitive sports which can accommodate men, women, pensioners, children and people with disabilities ranging from visually handicapped to restricted to a wheelchair. A game for the whole family.

As the game is played indoors (at the Memorial Hall and elsewhere in West Glamorgan for away matches), the weather does not interrupt play

It provides a social setting combined with not too demanding exercise for all and entertainment for those who simply want to come along and watch.

For those with the necessary skills, League competition may take place throughout the year with annual County championships for teams of Singles, Pairs. Threes and Four players competing for the County awards and progression to the all Wales National championships held in Llandrindod Wells.

Although I cannot process bookings for 2024 at present, I am taking "requests for reservations" which will be given priority as soon as Committee have considered the matter.

Such requests will be prioritized on a first come, first served basis.
