Ticket holders were informed today that Lizzie Bryant is very unwell. She had put so much work into getting her show ready. We will make sure to book her again next year when she is recovered. But we are also super grateful to Alex Crump for taking my call this morning and agreeing to offer us a fireside stories event in Avebury at such late notice. He has lots of stories up his sleeves and we love his storytelling, so we are looking forward to it!! Thank you for your understanding everyone. Will post about the alternative event next. What a day! 😆

Our next event 8 December is led by Dorset-based storyteller Lizzie Bryant. After many years in the film industry, finding and shaping stories as script editor and film producer, Lizzie retrained as a stonemason and with her hammer and chisel, shaped stone. Her work on crumbling churches and her love of archaeology and history led her into the wilder places to explore the old stories, myths and legends told by our ancestors and held in the land and she tumbled into the world of oral storytelling.

Just another Saturday night in Swindon
where our October days
were told of the Ides of March

With stagecraft voice, his choice
of words, pace, volume, transfixed our ears
as he Telstared* his stories towards us

His parents were Gods
father a Nigerian Prince
mother an Enigma decoder

Years of one-way letters, the only clues
he reverse-engineered those secret words
to decode his parents

Biafra burst his parents apart
Bullet of Tulse Hill School dodged
The Mother of all Welsh Hills held him together

and there’s yet more tales to tell
when we meet at the Tafarn Sinc** since

We are excited to announce our next storytelling event which will be in Avebury on the 8th of December. Storyteller Lizzie Bryant's tales are inspired by the sacred landscape, archaeology, archeoastronomy, ancient myths and wonder tales.
Tickets are already 1/3 sold, numbers are more limited for this event.
