Digging up the dahlias. Our fields get so boggy and waterlogged that we can not leave our dahlia tubers in the ground, so we have to dig them up. If they are left in the ground and it is water sodden, then they become rotten and are prone to disease. We lift our dahlias every year store in a dry place over winter and replant out in spring after the frosts have gone. It's a long, dirty, smelly job, but we pride ourselves on our dahlias so worth the work.
