Bearded dragons have amazing vision and hearing; they can see in colour and have something called a “parietal eye” or "third eye" .
The pariental eye perceives light, dark, shadows, and UV light, meaning the bearded dragon can essentially see what's behind and above them keeping them safe from birds and other predators at the same time as looking at what's infront of them ! 😄🤩👀

Pig
June 2018- May 2024
Part of owning and loving animals is providing that love and care right through to the end, however difficult that may be.

I'm absolutely heartbroken to share that we unfortunately lost Pig today after a short and sudden illness.
I'm so grateful I got the chance to share him with others so they could also fall in love with his amazing, sweet personality .

You'll be missed so much buddy, rest well. ♥️

Say hello to another new face in the reptile room.
This is Khan, our Sudan Plated Lizard.
Not only does he look incredible but he's fascinating to watch and work with and has an incredible appetite! He's stealing all of Astrids mealworms😅
The Plated Lizard is a medium sized Lizard, similar to the bearded dragon in size and originates from central to Eastern Africa . He's a stunning dark brown/grey in colour with yellow stripes and red sides and the texture to his scales is almost crododillian ! 🐊
We've had him for just over two weeks now and he's settling down amazingly. We've started handling him little and often and getting him used to us big scary humans. You'll see his face popping up on social media quite a lot and hopefully in the not too distant future he'll be able to venture out on some jobs with the rest of the crew! 💚

Feeling blue?
Every now and then you'll see a snake with milky / cloudy eyes. Don't worry, they're not blind! When a snakes eyes are like this they're 'in blue' which is something they go through around 3-5 days before they shed their skin.
In this stage, a layer of liquid forms between the eyeballs and eyecaps (snakes don't have eyelids so they shed the protective clear scales over their eyes too!) to help separate the old skin from the new skin ready to shed away, when this happens it gives their eyes this appearance and does reduce their eyesight significantly. Their eyes do return to normal within a day or two and then within 5 days they'll shed their entire old skin and will look all fresh and beautiful!

The macleays stick insect aka. The giant Prickly stick insect.
These guys are probably one of the most interesting looking stick insects out there, rather than looking like a stick, they look more like the dead foliage and leaf litter. And still grow up to an impressive 13 cm long!
How beautiful are they?!🥰💚

Our Macleays stick insects are growing fast and are definitely proving to be very entertaining little creatures ! 😂

💚🐍We're excited to introduce a new face to the crew!🐍💚
Meet Zena, our second royal python. The same species as our beloved Echo(who is still available for experiences and her incredible cuddles!!)
You may notice they look very different to Echo, this is because Zena is a type of Banana Morph hence the stunning yellow and her blue eyes!!
she's also very different in size as she's only around 6 months old but we'll get to watch her grow to Echos size one day!
This little beauty has already blown me away in her settling period and has shown a strong personality. A cheeky but sweet girl who just LOVES to explore but doesn't appreciate being told what not to do 😬😂

I cannot wait to get this girl out and about for you all to meet and hopefully fall in love with!

Please note any bookings for dates before June may not include Zena, this depends on how she continues to settle in.

THANK YOU SO, SO MUCH to absolutely everybody who got involved with Shine Bright Festival! We raised an amazing £3,250 which will be split equally between Changes Tamworth and Birmingham Dogs Home.

This is the first year that Shine Bright Festival ran, and although we had some challenges along the way, it had such an amazing outcome. Thank you to all of the tattoo artists, piercer, helpers, stall holders, bands and performers, and everybody who came along, supported the festival, spent money, and had a good time. We wouldn’t have been able to raised such an incredible amount without you all 🩵

I also just wanted to send out an extra special thank you to Jim from I wouldn’t have been able to do this without you, thank you for sorting all of the bands and performers and making the whole process easier.
Thank you Chris from .tamworth for donating the amazing banner and helping out with posters.
Thank you to everyone at for always being so supportive of my ideas and helping throughout them all, thank you for all of your time and effort throughout shine bright festival, and thank you for putting up with me on my more stressy days.

What an amazing weekend this has been. Was so much fun getting to meet everybody and put some smiles on faces! Thank you again to Shine Bright Festival , Becky Star's Art and the fabulous team at Alchemy Moon Tattoo Collective for all putting on an incredible couple of days raising money for two local charities !
