One of our research projects, MarPAMM (https://www.mpa-management.eu), has been developing a regional management plan for Marine Protected Areas in Argyll. We are now consulting on the guiding principles, objectives and recommendations that were developed with a steering group of local stakeholders. We are holding consultation events in Tarbert, Craignure, Oban and online that we encourage locals to attend.

Please note that this is not a statutory plan but our recommendations that the regulatory agencies will consider.

MPAs are tools to conserve our marine environment. They are still relatively new - especially compared to land-based nature conservation areas - and projects like MarPAMM help us learn more about the many species and habitats we want to protect and how to co-develop plans with local and stakeholder communities.
