โค๏ธ Kindness tickets are back for 2024! In previous years youโ€™ve all been very generous, please give a Kindness Ticket for ยฃ20 again and buy the gift of pantomime for care leavers and their families around the borough this Christmas.

The Kindness Ticket will provide a family with a ticket to attend the Goldilocks and The Three Bears show at Telford International Centre.

Join us to hear the winning poems of the Poetry Competition from the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Festival held earlier this year.
This Sunday (24 November) 4pm on Zoom!

Poets, Prattlers and Pandemonialists will be leading the event and will be joined by the competition judge Paul Francis and the winning poets!

๐ŸŽ‡ Follow the trail and immerse yourself in iconic Christmas film moments, featuring interactive displays, heart-warming movie scenes, festive music at the bandstand, and even a few surprises from your favourite Christmas characters. ๐Ÿ“ข Be part of Telford & Wrekin Councilโ€™s Cultural Ambitions Plan!

On Wednesday 20 November we are holding our first Telford Culture Club where you can meet like-minded people, join in the conversation about culture, arts and heritage in the borough.

Telford Culture Club โ€“ Wednesday 20th November 6pm โ€“ 9pm Telford Minster, Meeting Point House Telford TF3 4HS

The Culture Club will be an informal forum that can help to shape the development of a Culture Strategy for the borough, but the main focus of these events will be to exchange ideas, share information as well as keep in touch and open to anyone who works or participates in arts, heritage, and culture and feels they could contribute to the network.

๐Ÿฎ Thanks to all who came to the evening lantern parade at Bowring Park in Wellington for the Telford Interfaith Festival of Light last Friday ( 1 November). Some photos from the evening of the parade and some of the fantastic lanterns that were made in workshops before the event are below โฌ‡๏ธ

๐Ÿฎ Join us this Friday (1 November) for the magical evening lantern parade at Bowring Park, Wellington from 5:30pm at the Telford Interfaith Festival of Light.
The parade will go around the park and there will be Bhangra Disco, LED Light Performances and circus performances.

Drinks and refreshments will be available.

๐Ÿฎ Lantern workshops have been taking place over the last week to create willow lanterns, the workshops were delivered in partnership with Telford & Wrekin Interfaith Council funded by Inclusive Communities Fund - a legacy of the Commonwealth Games, a fund made available by UK Government through the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) overseen by West Midlands Combined Authority.

โœโ— Last few days to enter this yearsโ€™ Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Festival Poetry competition 2024 with the Poets, Prattlers and Pandemonialists before it closes on Sunday.

Poems on any and every subject are welcome and the competition is open to poets from across the globe.

โœ๐Ÿผ First prize in our competition will win ยฃ300, with a second prize of ยฃ125, and three third prizes of ยฃ25 each.
โœ๐Ÿผ In addition, poems sent in by people living in a TF postcode will also be eligible for our local prize of ยฃ50.
๐Ÿ“… The competition is open Monday 2 September 2024 - 6pm on Sunday 20 October 2024.

Poems will be read, and winners chosen, by our judge Paul Francis.
Paul Francis is a retired teacher, living in Much Wenlock, whoโ€™s been active in the West Midlands poetry scene for the last twenty-five years. He won the TF postcode prize at the inaugural Ironbridge competition in 2022, came second in the Shelley Memorial competition in 2023, and he won the Enfield poetry competition in 2024.

๐ŸฎFestive Gardens dates announced for 2024! 13 December โ€“ 15 December and 19 December โ€“ 21 December 4pm โ€“ 8pm. Tickets on sale soon.

โ–ถ๏ธ But before we look ahead to Christmas letโ€™s take a look back at some of our summer events โ€“ we loved seeing so many visitors come along and enjoy the different events.

Our pledge โ€œto deliver an exciting and inclusive programme of cultural events during the school summer holidaysโ€ is part of Telford & Wrekin Councilโ€™s โ€˜20 pledges in 20 weeksโ€™ campaign that will see us deliver 20 actions on the things that matter most to local people during the first 20 weeks following Cllr Leeโ€™s Carterโ€™s appointment as Leader on 18 July 2024. The pledges reinforce the councilโ€™s ongoing commitment to protect, care and invest to create a better borough.

๐Ÿฎ This half term, families can sign up and join the free lantern making workshops taking place in Wellington and Oakengates! This fun family activity is suitable for 5+, children must be accompanied by a helpful adult as you make your lantern together.

๐Ÿฎ Artists will guide you through the process of making a willow stick lantern and by the end of the session youโ€™ll have made and decorated your own lantern.

Come and enjoy the creative, engaging and interactive art exhibition Weave Only a Trace. This exhibition of basketry, wood and natural plant fibres, is a collaboration of eleven regional artists and the Ironbridge Coracle Trust.

๐Ÿ˜ As itโ€™s world porridge day today (10 Oct 24) why not enter Telford Theatre's competition for a chance to win a family ticket, to see Goldilocks and the Three Bears, at Telford International Centre, on Thursday 19 December 2024.

All you have to do to enter is head over to Telford Theatre and follow the instructions on the pinned post! Hurry the competition will close at 3pm on Thursday 17 October.

๐Ÿ˜ Panto takes a โ€œpawsโ€ from Telford Theatre this year but not to worry you can see all the fun and magic of panto this Christmas at Telford International Centre from 17 December โ€“ 2 January 2025 with Goldilocks and the Three Bears. All your favourites will be there plus new friends!

โ‡๏ธ Dame Betty invites you to a special relaxed performance of Goldilocks and The Three Bears on Sunday 29 December 2024 at 11am at Telford International Centre.

Everyone is welcome! This specifically adapted version of the show has been modified for adults and children who have autism, sensory communication disorders or learning difficulties. It can also be more suitable for those who have dementia or those who just prefer a lighter environment and fewer bangs.

The script stays the same and the entertainment is no less so thereโ€™s plenty of fun to be had.
