Wedding season is upon us! Two on a recent Saturday; firstly a wedding abroad their grandparents couldn't make meant we were called upon to deliver our packaged Afternoon Teas on a round trip to Wolverhampton, Bridgnorth & Telford. A great idea! Also two lovely ladies in their 70's tying the knot near Newport 🫶. Both taking the time to get in touch with us after. Love is in the air!👩‍❤️‍👨👩‍❤️‍👩

Well done to the team at the weekend! It's always difficult to get pictures when in the thick of things, but managed to snap a couple from our catering tent before two of the courses went out on this event for x 200. Great feedback received on the food and service👏

We've been testing a new idea; hella fresh from the U.S of A. The "Cronut". Similar to a croissant; a soft fine crumb and slightly crunchy layers, they're ideal for sweet or savoury although we've now settled on sweet! 😏 Watch this space for further updates!👨‍🍳

Completely lost count of the amount of bread we've cut in half this December, ready for hot delivery or on site service of turkey baps. The most cut in a day was 540 😅. Hoping the bakery can offer us pre-cut next year 🫣

We had a 'VVVIP' corporate buffet booked for x 16 as the CEO was flying over by private plane from the USA. The call came in with 2 hours notice to up it by x 11 as the taxi company said they had more booked in. When the plane arrived shortly after, there was actually the original amount on board so numbers got dropped again 😅. This was the end result, just going though the garnish stage. That on top of feeding over 400 booked in that day & night on corporate, private buffets, turkey baps in mass & an evening Christmas party. Happy Friday!

Order online for delivery, starting from only 2 people! By reading the basics of the Sofood! top tea tips below; your perfect manners will most likely make you stand out from the riff raff. Whilst beautifully presented food is essential, for many it is the ceremony of afternoon tea which makes it such a special occasion.

Scones...
Traditionally not part of an afternoon tea offering, it’s now unthinkable to miss one out. Firstly... pronunciation is always ‘skon’ and never ‘skone’. If other guests use the latter you can instantly expose them as a fraud. Secondly... do not pick up your knife and cut into it. Scones are to be broken with your fingers, in half or into small pieces before topping. In the age old ‘cream then jam’ or ‘jam then cream’ debate... it’s completely up to you! Either way is entirely scrumptious.

Let’s relax...
Don’t be in a hurry. Enjoy your Afternoon Tea at a leisurely pace, to be a break in your normal routine for 2 hours or more. Sip tea in between your sweet & savoury indulgence, whilst you pass the time away with eloquent conversation. Our specialist afternoon teas include a selection of savouries and should be suitable enough to not require a big dinner later on! Make use of the air tight platter lids for any leftovers. As long as you’ve kept in the fridge it’ll be fine to keep for a couple of days.

Pastries and assorted fancies...
Apart from sandwiches and cakes there are no set rules for what to offer for the rest of your afternoon tea. Nonetheless, as with our specialist afternoon tea they should be dainty and capable of being eaten in a few mouthfuls with the fingers, or a small fork. It’s perfectly acceptable to start at the top, middle or bottom of a cake stand.

Tea comes first...
What is hot always comes before what is cold. First, you pour the tea, and then the milk. There are sometimes aspersions cast as to a persons heritage if they put the milk in first, due to servants originally drinking from clay mugs which may crack when hot tea was poured first.

The art of a gentle stir...
Large circular motions creating a whirlpool effect are only suitable for the building site. Your spoon must go only from 12 o’clock to 6 o’clock, and to be repeated elegantly. A light flick of the teaspoon above the cup when finished is required to shake off the drips. Bashing the spoon on the side of the cup is certainly not an elegant outcome, and the sound is an immediate giveaway.

It’s a teacup...
Forget the habit of wrapping your hands around a coffee mug, and avoid leaning forward to drink. Never blow on hot tea to cool it. If enjoying your specialist afternoon tea from us with a traditional teacup; you must pinch your index and thumb between the loop of the handle, and then put your middle finger along the bottom of the handle to support it. Never hook your finger through, there’s a reason why Captain Hook never attended an afternoon tea.

What about the pinkie finger?..
You may have heard that you should lift your pinkie finger up when you’re enjoying your tea. Unfortunately, it’s all wrong, according to afternoon tea etiquette you must never put your pinkie out. Let it remain peacefully with the other fingers. However you can still dare to enjoy a cup of coffee, healthy juice or our firm favourite... a nice spot of gin!

🔥 Our second BBQ in 5 days, and as you can tell by that smile from 'ar Ed 🤪, the weather was certainly winning on this one! 🌞 We provided Lamb Koftes, Cajun Chicken Breast, Beef Kebabs with Peppers, Halloumi Skewers, Tossed Salad, Deluxe Coleslaw, Penne Pasta with Pesto, Minted New Potatoes & Chilled Fizzy Drinks 😯. One issue with the heat is unloading the van again after 🥵 😂 More than a fizzy drink is in order now please barkeep 🍻

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️We are ELITE 😁 5 Stars for Scores on the Doors for 13 years running. 5 stars are so much more than the kitchen being clean on inspection. Food safety risk assessments, critical control points identified, systems created and adhered to, & the equipment & building has to be safe & maintained to a high standard. Intricate levels of cleaning records are recorded, high levels of staff hygiene training is invested in, food is temperature probed to ensure it's cooked through and recorded. We have many commercial fridges and freezers that are temperature recorded on a walk around every morning and afternoon, our own refrigerated van temperature checks, even supplier delivery van temperatures are recorded, dishwasher water temperatures checked... even the temperature probe is regularly calibrated and recorded! I've missed out so much here but many different daily checks, weekly checks & monthly checks all to ensure you won't eat any safer food than ours. We're not the cheapest, but we wouldn't have it any other way. To see a personal note from the Environmental Health Officer on the inspection to say "keep up the good work" is amazing 🤩. A massive well done to all the team here 👏. Not exactly the official way of rating, ahem... but ⭐️TIME ⭐️EFFORT⭐️DETERMINATION⭐️INVESTMENT⭐️PRIDE 👍
