Today we’re celebrating 151 years of history, memories, and community spirit! From its beginnings as a Temperance Hall back in 1873, to becoming a vibrant hub for live music, dances, discos, and even one of the first cinemas in the area – Dawley Town Hall has been at the heart of it all! 💃🎶🎬
Over the years, we’ve had the honour of welcoming royalty, hosting council meetings, and celebrating life’s special moments with weddings, birthdays, christenings, and more. Dawley Town Hall has been the place where the community comes together. 💍👶🎉

🎉 Celebrating 150 Years of Dawley Town Hall! 🏛️
Today, we commemorate a remarkable milestone in the history Dawley Town Hall – 150 years of cherished memories, community gatherings, and historic moments. 🥳
Originally built as a Temperance Hall back in 1873, this iconic landmark has witnessed countless celebrations, from joyful birthdays and heartfelt christenings to the unions of loving couples and the farewells of dear friends. It's been a cornerstone of our community's life, preserving stories and traditions for generations. 🎂👶💍🌹
Did you know? In the early 1960s, some of the development of Dawley New Town, which later became known as Telford, took place right here within these walls. This town hall has played a pivotal role in shaping our community's future. 🏗️🏙️
In 2013, thanks to the dedication of passionate volunteers, we breathed new life into this historic gem, rescuing it from years of abandonment. It once again became a vibrant hub for our community to come together. 🤝🛠️
In 2021, we proudly opened the Dawley Town Hall Annex, affectionately named "Randle House," in honour of the former Mayor of Great Dawley, Cllr Malcolm Randle. This welcoming space serves as a haven for support groups, offered free of charge to nurture our community's well-being. 🏡❤️
As if that wasn't enough, in 2023, Dawley Town Hall stepped into the spotlight, making its mark on national television as it was featured on the BBC's Apprentice! 📺🌟
Today, as we celebrate 150 years of memories, let's also look forward to the many more moments this historic venue will host for generations to come.
