As we approach the business end of the season, the 1st XI continue their title fight with a home fixture against Cresselly Cricket.

The 2nd XI travel to Herbrandston and the 3rd XI are home to Llangwm Cricket Club II.

Simon Wood in the runs again! 🔥

Our first XI progresses to the ECB o50s Semi Final after a decisive victory over Somerset o50s.

Losing the toss on a wicket which helped bowlers throughout the day Wales Over 50s Cricket were reduced to 16-2. A partnership of 63 in good time between Michael Cann (31) @ Cardiff Cricket Club and Simon Wood Carew Club stablised the inning. Simon Wood (61) continued with another partnership of 79 with Huw Evans (32) (Fishguard and Goodwick CC) which enabled Mark Davies Ynysygerwn Community Sports & Social Club, Pontarddulais Cricket Club and Tim H**p Mumbles Cricket Club, with some quick scoring at the end to post 192-5.

Jon Toghill Machen Cricket Club once again made an early breakthough and the Welsh spinners reduced Somerset to 83-6 with Iwan Rees brilliant with 3-11 backed up by Mark Davies and Julian Ballinger Miskin Manor Cricket Club.

Late order hitting took the final total to 169-9 and we now meet Cambridgeshire o50s in the semi final on the 25th August.

A fantastic final session of the summer last night and the sun ☀️ finally made an appearance! We had a little presentation of medals & certificates afterwards, which 1st XI captain Rhys Davies was on hand to present 👏🏼

It’s been great to see over 40 children enjoying playing cricket this summer, a huge increase in numbers since the junior section restarted 3 years ago 🙌🏼 A huge thank you to all the coaches for delivering the sessions, the parents for bringing the children on a Friday night (and Sunday mornings!) and to Rob & Mandy at Carew Inn for again providing the sausage & chips!

The junior summer officially concludes on Sunday morning, as we host the final Under 9s festival of the year 🏏

Well done to the Carew/Lawrenny Ormond Youth Team for their performance yesterday. They added a great run total, but Hook battled hard and managed to chase it down in style. The game result came down to the final ball of the game. Congratulations to Hook CC. It was a fantastic game of cricket. Thanks to Brian Hall and Rob Williams for coaching the team again this year and to Julie Rees for scoring. Huge thanks to for providing breakfast, to all the club volunteers, groundsmen, to Jenny, Rachael and Wendy for a superb tea and to our cricket Chairman Mr Steven Cole for sponsoring the BBQ's this weekend, to the polo shirt sponsors and to for use of ther kit. !

Huge congratulations to Simon Wood who has been selected in the Wales Over 50s Cricket 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 squad for the World Cup in February 2025, to be held in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰🏏 This will be Woody’s second World Cup - well done Woody boy! 👏🏼

Captain Iwan Rees has confirmed the squad for next February's o50s World Cup to be held in Sri Lanka.

We are so proud to be a Tier One Nation at this age group and as a small nation we have beaten Australian Over 50s Cricket, Veterans Cricket India, Masters Cricket USA, Cricket West Indies Masters Association in recent years and look forward to competing in the Cwpan y Byd.

Well done to the Ormond Cup team who defeated neighbours, Cresselly, on Friday evening. Cresselly batted first and posted 95 on the scoreboard. Carew/Lawrenny passed it comfortably with the loss of just two wickets!
