Making slow but steady progress on the new Community Youth and Sports Building in the Recreation Ground. Walkways now all in place and cladding going up. Internal wall structures now in place and plumbing is starting to go in.

The recreation ground would normally be a available for car parking on Wacky Races day. Unfortunately, this year, we are not able to provide this service as the ground is too wet and car parking would cause too much damage to the ground.

With it looking likely power outages will continue throughout tomorrow (Monday) we are delighted to be working with Tetbury Town Council and Tetbury Cricket Club again to provide somewhere to go for some warmth, power and food.

The Dolphins Hall will be open between 11-4, hosted by Andrea, the Councilā€™s Health and Well-being Coordinator and supported by Tetbury Cricket Clubā€™s food donations and volunteers.

Stay safe everyone and if we can help in anyway, please do reach out.

20/02/2022

For anyone without heat or power, weā€™re opening up the Dolphins Hall for a couple of hours from 12.

Whether you want a tea or coffee, some soup or just a warm place to charge your phone, our doors are open.

Special thanks to Tetbury Cricket Club for providing the people power and donations to make this happen.

As we continue to progress the building of the new Community, Youth and Sports Complex, we are reaching a pivotal point on the installation of the floor slab.

The volume of deliveries and amount of machinery onsite is going to therefore temporarily increase, meaning the New Church Street car park will be closed to any parking from Sunday afternoon (30th Jan) and will reopen on Wednesday (2nd Feb) morning.

The Hampton Street car park remains open and available to all users.

Back in November a group of volunteers from a local wealth management firm very kindly spent a day painting the childrens playground on the rec. There is still some finishing off work to be done but the park looks a lot better for it fresh set of colours. The trustees would like to give a big thank you to all those who helped.

We would also like to give a shout out to Ryalls Decorating & Building Supplies who gave us a very generous discount on the paint and equipment.

The Dolphins Recreation Centre can confirm that after a discussion at a recent trustees meeting and a formal vote of the trustees we have recently requested the removal of advertising of R&J Pearce Ltd from being displayed within our facilities.

The request was made to Tetbury Bowls Club as the sign had been displayed without prior approval as is required under the terms of their lease.

Trustees are required by law to act in the best interests of the trust and permitting the advertisement of a business where a shareholder and Company Secretary has actively discredited the trust for a number of years was considered to not be in keeping with this statutory objective.

The individual in question has also in the last month instructed his solicitor to write to Tetbury Town Council as part of pre-action protocol in respect of the release of S106 funding to the Community, Youth and Sports Complex which also confirms the said individual will look to seek remedies including personal compensation.

The instruction for the sign to be removed was issued to Tetbury Bowls Club. Since the instruction was made we had received no correspondence from R&J Pearce Ltd until after their recent public statement. The correspondence we have now received from the Company Secretary includes swearing and several offensive and unprofessional comments.

The trustees are happy to discuss this matter further with R&J Pearce if they wish to do so, but only if it is in a more professional and cordial manner than that currently experienced.

The recreation ground looks so good because Paul puts so much effort into it. It is great to see his dedication rewarded.

We have another champion in our ranks! šŸ¤©

Last night members of the committee were delighted to attend a Gloucestershire Playing Field's Association ceremony where chairman, Paul Jones, was presented with the Major Tom Hancock Volunteer of the Year award in recognition of his dedication to improving sports and recreation facilities within his local community šŸ‘

Everyone at the cricket club knows just how much this man does, but it was absolutely fantastic to see him recognised wider for all the work he does for us and for the wider Recreation Ground. It sums the man up that even this week, he's already been down there for over ten hours looking after it all for everyone else to benefit from.

The last paragraph of the speech on the evening sums things up far more eloquently than we can!

"Paulā€™s contribution has been immense, especially in such a difficult year for everyone, and has meant more people then ever have been able to enjoy the community facilities in Tetbury and has also meant they look better than they ever have before. Everyone at the Dolphins Recreation Centre, the Cricket Club and Tetbury in general are forever thankful for the difference Paul makes."
