Would you like to be a part of our Christmas Choir in December 2026?
The plan is to bring Christmas cheer to local care homes, or groups that would otherwise struggle to have these heart warming, festive experiences.
We would need to prepare for this throughout 2026 to be ready. So if you’d like to show your commitment to this rewarding and memorable gift to our community then please follow the page, comment, message me if you wish so that I can gauge numbers. This second choir group will begin on the 4th Feb and you’re more than welcome to come along for a free taster session to see what you think.
I sincerely hope to see you there.

A heartwarming story from my travels this week!

On Monday I arrived at Eckling Grange care home at the same time as a gentleman.
I went ahead and signed in and happened to overhear his conversation with a staff member.
They were searching all the Norfolk Carehomes for his wife’s cousin.
When he mentioned his name I knew who he was looking for immediately as I sing with him twice a month.
As the reason for their search unfolded it felt appropriate to share my knowledge.
He took me out to the car to meet his wife and I was thrilled to be able to put an end to their search.
I went sung with the gent, her cousin, yesterday at Ailwyn Hall and he was so excited to tell me all about his special catch up this week!
They hadn’t seen each other since they were children!
How very beautiful 🀍

Dear Geoffrey at was so much fun on Wednesday! He played his Harmonica along to my songs and finished off by entertaining us with a song called Fatty bum bum! First time I’d heard that! Apparently it was his favourite karaoke song! 🎢🎡

πŸŽ€πŸ’™A little bit about me and my missionπŸ’™πŸŽ€

All of my life there was an β€œinner” singer & performer bursting to break free but due to a major lack of confidence and belief in myself that side of me remained hidden firmly away behind closed doors!

It wasn’t until my late forties that I finally found some confidence in my voice whilst working at a local care home. I quickly found that singing with the dear residents had a profound effect on their emotions, mental health and memory.
This in turn had a powerful effect on me!
I had a realisation that my voice can make a big difference!
Importantly It never depended on my talent or if I was perfectly in tune, they didn’t seem to notice if I fluffed the lyrics. It was simply a beautiful oppurtunity to share a special experience together.

I had found my calling in life. 🀍

It was during this time that I had some Divine inspiration to take this a step further by singing at carehomes around Norfolk.
I have now been doing this work full time for over a year and it has been the most rewarding, heartwarming work of my life so far.

So here I am…going another step further.
Again Divine inspiration has been nudging me, I’ve been dreaming about the ideas for this Harmony choir.
I am beyond excited but also pretty nervous as I’ve never taken on a role of this magnitude before.
The nerves are an excellent sign though that I’m pushing through my comfort zones, which has always paid off in dividends for my self confidence.

And so The Wayland Songbirds Harmony Choir is coming to Watton early 2026. This group will be a safe place to show up exactly as you are!
Any perfectionism or self imposed pressure will be left at the front door.
My journey has taught me the importance of owning my imperfections and to allow myself to shine in my role regardless.

As a group and as individuals this will be our superpower!

There are no specific requirements to join the group other than a passion for singing, a good ear for what sounds pleasing and a willingness to learn the songs in your own time.

The group will be a co-creation with all of us choosing the songs and sharing our unique ideas.
The more creativity we explore in our vocal expression, the better the experience for all of us, including the audience.
Everyone has a voice here.

No matter if you’re shy, awkward, anxious, a born performer, or a bathroom singer. You’re all welcome. There is room for all of us and all of our unique human expression.

I’ll have lots more to share soon as and when I have the details, on the venue, cost, which evenings, regularity etc.
for now though I’ll leave it here. Please follow The Wayland Songbirds page to be kept up to date with all the information.

Until next time, keep Singing loud and clear for all to hear. Your voice makes a difference. πŸ’™

Well that was an interesting but fun afternoon at Bilney Hall care home.
My brand new Bose speaker decided not to play ball today and so i improvised and it was just me singing to a room full for an hour. We had a fantastic time relying on clapping and tambourines to keep us in time. Good job I can project my voice hey! πŸ€ͺ🀩
