This is the start of what will be, a meter wide Christmas Wreath that a customer has orderer from Amber Cottage.
I commissioned the very talented Lawsons Market Garden to make this willow base for me. I think you will agree, he has done an amazing job. I'm looking forward to decorating it in festive foliage, knowing that the customer gets to keep the wreath to use throughout the seasons .

And just like that, it's all over. My 2024 season has officially come to an end. My last buckets left this morning. Thank you for the last orders this last week. A part of me is emotional that the flowers are done, but I'm also filled with excitement as I have a busy Christmas season ahead with workshops and a large installation commission.
I'm also looking forward to seeing what 2025 has in store and the new flowers that will be in the plot.

People may ask, " why would I buy flowers from you, when I can buy them from a supermarket for a lot cheaper"? A valid question.

You indeed can buy cheaper flowers, but those flowers are more than likely covered in chemicals, pesticides, herbicides and fungicide. They are very likely to have travelled from such places as Kenya, Ethiopia, Netherlands and Israel to name a few and then they are wrapped in plastic.

When you purchase flowers from me Amber Cottage Flowers you can rest assured knowing your flowers have been picked fresh by me and they are grown sustainably and without the use of chemicals, and they will be presented in brown paper wrapping secured with twine or raffia. Ooh and not to mention the scent. Supermarket flowers have absolutely no scent 😫.
That's why my flowers are a bit more expensive than the supermarket. They are fresh as nature intended, seasonal and grown in your home town. That's my

I also dry all of my own flowers to extend my season.

This last little beauty of an order is leaving Amber Cottage this morning. I closed my plot a week or so ago as the weather was bleak. However, the Dahlias are powerhouses that are refusing to give in. With this in mind I'm reaching out to my customers and floral friends to see if anyone wants to come and purchase the last of the Dahlias a stem or a bucket of 30 mixed Dahlias for £22
As you can see the flowers are still looking perfect, I just need to be closing the plot down ready for the winter.

Ideal if you are having a party or event in the next week or so.

I have a space become available on the Christmas Wreath Workshop. 7th Dec 6pm-8pm if you would like it. £10 deposit to hold the space and £50 in total for the experience. Just to clarify from my previous post, even though I have closed the flower plot for orders.. Amber Cottage Flowers can still provide dried flower bouquets, wreaths, sheafs etc for your event. I can also source British flowers and foliage from our Devon growers throughout the winter period, so if you are planning a wedding or you need to order a farewell tribute before the start of my next season, I can still help you out. Well that's a wrap!! Apart from my prearranged and prepaid orders, that's my flower plot closed for 2024. It's been a challenge but also an absolute blast. I have had amazing customer support, and I need to thank you all for that. I have had work collaborations and opening doors. 🥰.

I'm still here working on dried flower projects and working towards the wreath workshops, so feel free to message with any questions.

The life of a flower farmer......
The weather has been unforgiving and relentless this year, and I know I'm not the only one feeling the pressure.
I have dodged the rain today to frantically deadhead, in order to try and keep the Dahlias going to fulfil and order next week. Last year, I still had flowers in November. How the weather can shake things up and keep us on our toes.

I am still open, but I am going to play each day/week as it comes. Unfortunately, I won't be taking on any large preoders as I am unable to commit at this moment in time .

This is the news I have been waiting to tell you. I am beyond thrilled and excited to have been chosen to be the in-house florist of The Hop Rooms in Wisbech. This is the most stunning venue with exquisite gardens, established trees, lake and a fountain. It really is worth a visit as the pictures on the website do not do this stunning venue justice. I will be working alongside the wonderful Jayne Salter, wedding and events co-ordinator to bring your visions alive.

A littke update.... I am outside every day and keeping on top of deadheading to keep these beauties going for as long as possible. It is however coming to the end of the season, which is sad. It has been an amazing 4 months for me and I don't want it to come to an end.
I have been busy drying flowers to extend my season, so from October I will be offering dried flower bouquets and wreaths.
I have a small number of spaces left on my Christmas Wreath Workshops if you are interested. Please message me.

I can still offer farewell flowers as I can purchase in from fellow UK growers throughout the winter months.

A beautiful tribute for a gentleman who loved his garden, wildlife, and birds. Placed within the tribute are fat balls for the birds to feast upon at his final resting place. Fully sustainable and compostable.

This shot was taken yesterday evening. It may be September but the Dahlias, Zinnas, Asters and Sunflowers will hopefully continue into October. My fresh flower season will then come to an end and I move on to my dried flower season. Wreaths, dried bouquets, baubles etc. I am now planning for next year, buying seeds and bulbs and I'm hoping to get sowing next week ready for next year.

When you're a flower farmer, you are always planning for the next season and I have been drying flowers since June in preparation for October onwards. And this month sees me prepping for next spring and beyond.
The continuous farming cycle 💐❤️.
