Achnadrish House is located in the North of the beautiful isle of Mull, 5 miles West of Tobermory. Built as a shooting lodge for the Calgary Estate around 250 years ago, the house retains much of its historical charm whilst having the modern comforts of 21st Century life. Wowsers what a day, lightening strikes first thing, an incredible aurora and a meteor shower tonight 🤯. I was unprepared, phone died, big camera wasn’t set up so had to muddle through the settings in the dark and no tripod but the joy of being out in the garden watching it with my son was 👌🙏. Incredible ❤️

Sharing these incredible pics taken by our wonderful guests at the Cabin last week, what a joy they were to host! The bird feeders here are a constant source of entertainment and they managed to spot a tree creeper! Pics are a mama green finch feeding her babies on the fence by the feeder, a tree creeper, the woodpecker, a beautiful otter and stunning white tailed eagle. Amazing pics!
For the 12 years we’ve lived here I’ve hoped to see this pair of legends, John Coe and Aquarius, the last remaining Orca of the West Coast community, and today that dream came true. What a magnificent sight they are and how lucky are we on Mull that they choose to frequent these waters. Today they came up the Sound of Mull where we watched them before legging it to 😍. Truly incredible! Remember to report your sightings to who do tireless work recording data to learn more about the amazing cetaceans in our waters 😍 Then to top it all off we met this peacock and his peahens on the road home 🦚
Welcome to our 2 new residents of Achnadrish, Rocket and Viola. The cuteness is just too much and even though they’ve only just met, I think love is blossoming 🥹. So grateful to and The Fauld Mull for helping us find these two little buddies ♥️.

With all the excitement of the Cabin refurb I forgot to mention the upgrade to the loo in the Wing. Gorgeous wallpaper which I’m in love with, new flooring and a master stroke at problem solving how to add trim to the old window, a fabulously quirky frame which put up for me. Expert papering by the lovely , a very tricky little space to do and she nailed it! We have exciting plans to refurb the Wing this winter so give us a follow if you want to see the changes.

Plea to our road users! Sheep Mums and lambs are now free to roam on the roads around Achnadrish, the lambs have little road sense so please be cautious around them 🐑. Our local farmer Fiona Mackenzie Boa works incredibly hard to look after her flock so please go canny on the roads 🥰

Well planned and easy cooking can make or break your self catering holiday! Plan your holiday cooking in advance so that you can enjoy your family and avoid unhealthy and expensive meals.
What a stunning evening on Mull, so calm and peaceful. The Mishnish Lochs were like a mirror with fish rising and birds on the loch out for an evening saunter. .
Between rain showers, guests and the day jobs we're busy with the paint brushes. Sula helped me do the exterior wood work on the Cabin yesterday and even decorated her ears with a little white paint 😅. Masonry and the steps next, some Spring pot planting, then we have big exciting plans for the interior.
While I was warming my toes by the fire the other night there was an incredible aurora in progress, but we were thwarted with clouds. So myself and our self catering guests went out to our gate once the cloud had lifted and although it wasn’t nearly as strong it was still a beautiful sight and a first for our lovely French guests. I love how the cloud looks like an arrow ➡️ pointing to the brightest part!

Well deserved recognition ❤️ Only 20 mins from Achnadrish and a really lovely place to eat.
There are lots of nice walks around Achnadrish, and this one the Pup and I did yesterday is a perfect easy walk up the road by the house, go right past the shooting range, go through the gate after the hut and follow the path through the felled trees till you reach the forestry road. Go right and you’ll end up at the hide at Loch Torr which is THE most peaceful spot. You can sit in there and watch the wildlife on the loch before a short stroll up the road and back home to a nice cup of tea 🫖. All easy underfoot and some lovely views!

That’s a wrap on the Cabin living room renovation 🥳Professional photos soon to come 📷 We now need to lie down in a darkened room for a few days to recover 🛌. Massive shout out to @druimghigha who came up with the design, did all the bespoke painting and was a calm presence throughout whenever I got in flap which was often 😅. Her skills are plain to see and we’re absolutely delighted with the result. Couldn’t have done it in the timescale without @islandstyletomo and Alan as there was a lot to do, especially as we decided to have a peek under the carpet on day 1 and there was no going back when we discovered the wooden floor 🙈. All in all an epic job, with everyone pushing through various illnesses to get the job done 🥹. Next up is the Cabin kitchen, then the bathroom, then onto the Wing which we have exciting plans for too. Alongside our self catering at Achnadrish and camper-van hire we’ve added a couple of hot tubs to the mix 🛁. We bought one for ourselves during lockdown and were so impressed by the therapeutic benefits and just downright gorgeousness that we decided to set up a side business hiring them out to people on Mull. Our youngest son Finn is taking a key role and it will be his smiley face you see when we come and set up your hot tub for you.
