So the external scaffold is down and the decorators are in....... We will be the first of the Todmorden town deal projects to be completed.

The Mayor of Todmorden will be officially reopening us during an open day on the 27th April 2pm - 6pm. Todmorden Town Crier will also be in attendance.
Everyone is invited.
Jack's house will be here with their mobile bar & prosecco, The Travelling Pig Event Catering Company will be here providing their tasty hog roast and there will be a cafe inside providing hot drinks and cakes.
We will be having a raffle on the day to help raise much needed funds. We've got some fabulous prizes including voucher's kindly donated by Country Pizza, Morrisons & Gordon Rigg We will provide a full list of prizes nearer the time.

There will be a display showing the history of this beautiful building and you will be able to hear about the work that has been completed to help reduce our carbon footprint and conserve energy.
There will be an opportunity to meet with some community group leaders who use the hall. For example Women's Open Talk, who hold weekly group meetings here. There will also be displays of art from the U3A group, who host several of their groups here.

If you're thinking of getting married and want a beautiful, historic setting then come and talk to Audrey our wedding coordinator and see what the hall has to offer. if you're looking for somewhere to hold a different celebration, or community group, then come and talk to Denis our general manager.

As you may already be aware, work has now started on renovations to Fielden Hall, to make it more energy-efficient and secure its future in our town for many years to come.
It's actually AFTER all the renovations have been completed (hopefully by the beginning of April) that the real work in securing its future begins, and this is where we are asking for help.

The FCA is a charity and manages Fielden Hall as an affordable community space for local groups and organisations and as a venue for weddings and other celebrations. We are currently (and quite urgently) looking for people who would be interested in joining our board of trustees - and people with business knowledge and skills would be particularly useful.
The Fielden Association is a charity and a company limited by guarantee. The trustees have the responsibility of ensuring it is run in accordance with the objectives of the charity-to support the educational, cultural and social activities of the people of Todmorden, not to take any financial advantage for themselves and generally to preserve and develop the hall.
We have recently created a trading arm called Fielden Events Ltd – to manage weddings and other celebrations which do not fall strictly within the objectives of the charity. This company will donate all its profits each year end to the charity and thus both the company and the charity will meet the rules of the tax man and the charity commission. Profits from this will enable us to keep hire charges to our community groups low so we need to run it in a professional way, advice and information from people who have relevant experience will be very helpful.
Currently, the Trustees meet once a month, on the second Monday of the month, starting at 5.30 pm. We are usually (but not always) finished by 6.30. This is the Trustee body of the Fielden Centre Association. Trustees are needed primarily for the FCA, but if someone felt that the trading arm was more interesting or matched their skill set better, then we would be happy to discuss this.

We are delighted to be able to tell you that the owners of Fielden Hall, the Calder Valley Land Trust, have now been able to secure a substantial grant to put with the Town Deal money they had already been awarded.

This money, together with the Community Lottery grant which the Fielden Centre Association has been awarded. will enable us to make considerable improvements to the energy efficiency of the building.

Not only will this make us a greener site and help us contribute to the war on global warming, it will make the hall a warmer and more comfortable place for our hirers and, by helping to lower our energy bills, will enable us to keep our charges as low as possible.

Planning the necessary work can now start and we are hopeful that we will be able to start in the autumn. One or our top priorities is ensuring that the inconvenience to our hirers is as small as possible, and that most groups will be able to continue as usual. As plans are worked out in more detail, we will be able to let people know. We are confident that come late summer 2025 all of us will be able to benefit from a warmer and greener building.
