How I Achieve maximum value and minimal waste
🌿Creating designs that can be repurposed or gifted to friends and family after the occasion (in this case, the church congregation) and encouraging people to do this if they want to.🌿Asking for everything back where possible - it would of been quite easy for someone to throw the plastic pot and chicken wire away, but I make it clear I’ll have it back and will use it again and again. 🌿Using floristry methods, such as the chicken wire above, as opposed to floral foam that is single use and would end up in landfill. 🌿Composting, or encouraging others to, compost all of the fresh materials. In a year’s time, these flowers will provide me with nutritious compost that will be used to grow the next season’s flowers. The perfect cycle. If you would like to know more about the eco-friendly practices I adopt to create maximum value and minimal waste, send me a message ♥️🌿 #britishflowers #composting #ecoflorist #cycleoflife #minimalwaste #funeralflowers #weddingflowers #farewellflowers #weddingflorist #florist #hildenborough #kent
A little flower bed update and a hello from Dougal ♥️ - everything is sort of where it should be now (I think?!) ready for winter.
Growing this year/next season is a huge experiment and I’m basically maki by it up as I go along with the help of books, Google and YouTube channels - so we will see what happens next spring!

This will change how you feel about everything 🤯…
Did you know that floristry is £1.4billion industry in the UK but over 85% of the flowers sold in this country are imported from across the world?
This involves industrial growing, chemical treatments, cold storage and long journeys ✈️
If you’re still thinking ‘so what?’… let me tell you a little more about British flowers - the most exquisite blooms that have SO much to give!
🌿Buying locally grown flowers supports our own flower farmers, growers and small businesses.
🌿Each stem is totally unique, full of vitality and movement where they have been allowed to develop naturally within their surroundings.
🌿Often they are grown organically, or without any chemical treatment or pesticides. Just good old nature.
🌿They smell incredible - do your supermarket flowers?
🌿When I get them on my bench, almost always a little bug will crawl out - they are supporting all kinds of important life and biodiversity as they grow.
🌿There are SO many varieties, colours and interesting flowers to choose from - many of them you may never even have seen before.
So, why would we import when we have something SOOOO good?
If I still haven’t changed your mind, come and see for yourself. Flowers from the porch will be out again this week - beautiful little bunches of British blooms. The perfect intro to your new obsession 😍 but they sell out quickly…
Comment below 🌿 and I’ll let you know before anyone else when they are going to be there!
