You know those days where things don’t quite go to plan but people’s kindness just shines through.. I had one of those days 🤍.
On top of that - the smiles on people’s faces when they receive a surprise delivery, even in times of sadness - is the icing on the cake. They know they are being thought of and it clearly means so much 💜

Lavender harvest complete and bunches hung to dry. I find myself sitting on the floor of the studio, against the wall, underneath the bunches and looking up - the wonderful curly, messy stems -shaped in reaction to the repeated batterings from the rain.
Lavender is well known for its use in aiding relaxation, symbolising calm and healing - maybe that’s something to do with why I’ve ended up sitting here. The scent is almost overpowering. A true lavender haze 🌿

It’s nearly that time of year again 🤯 I cannot believe this was my very first official ‘job’ as Delilah and Herb one year ago. A special one for me this year too as my eldest leaves primary 🥲
So.. teacher bouquets are back, and even more gorgeous than before - best of British, all the smells, textures and colours.

I often find myself in the studio just ‘playing’ - trying new things, seeing what works (and often what doesn’t).
I usually love my designs to be full of flower but with just a handful of stems at my disposal, this was a bit of test.
Still all locally grown, still all beautiful seasonal flowers - but just 7 stems, including the grass and the foliage. Paired with a beautiful plain compote bowl and a pin frog. Simplicity 🤍 A different kind of feel I think but I like it.

So pleased to be awarded ‘New Business of the Year’ last night at the Business Awards.
Hiding right at the back of the auditorium, imposter syndrome going in full overtime, scraped my hair up ready to sit back, relax and enjoy the show.. and my name was called 🤭😍
So lovely to be part of a fantastic community of local businesses, all doing fabulous things in their own wonderful ways. My five mins of fame was the cherry on the top of a year of big decisions and hard work, which I have no doubt every business owner in the room has also experienced.

A huge day for me today! - so so pleased to wake up this morning and read that I’ve been chosen as a finalist in the ‘New Business’ category for the business awards - very excited to get glammed up and meet all of the other incredible local business owners at the awards evening in few weeks 💃🏼😍
This news couldn’t have come on a better day though - today is the day I treat my last patient. After 18 years (literally half my life! 😳) I’m stepping away from the only thing I’ve ever known, to try something new. from today is my sole focus 😬
Waaaay more emotional than I’d ever have thought, it suddenly hit me over the weekend that so much in my life is because of my career choice - from meeting my husband, to being able to have kids and continue to work, to opportunities it has presented that have made big impacts on my life and still do.
So today - I have all the feels 🥲 and approx 3hrs to go until that’s it. A chapter closes and a very exciting new one really begins.

I’m making a commitment going forwards to make my work much more planet friendly. This will be woven in on many levels but perhaps the biggest change is.. …cutting out single use plastics, floral foam (or Oasis) being the biggie… It’s always been a niggle in the back of my mind - using one of the most natural and beautiful products to create something so stunning and hidden underneath it all is something that just.. isn’t 🤷🏼♀️ My sticking point was that I just couldn’t find anywhere that would give me enough information about and, therefore the confidence to use, other techniques - until I found Ali @ramblingstems that is. I spent the day with her today - learning, experimenting and creating. It was soooo good to work alongside her and I cannot wait to implement what I learnt going forwards. Jumping on the March #meetthemaker trend (better late than never!) and today is.. #signaturestyle My style is 100% an evolution. I can feel and see it developing with every single design I make at the moment and that is so exciting to me. When I opened Delilah and Herb not quite a year ago, I would have undoubtedly said my style is natural, wild, rustic. I never would have seen myself creating pieces like the one in the video. But I love doing both! What I have learned is that my style is more about the flowers I use, the colours, the combinations, the placement, the shape, the textures, the feel - I can’t name my style or fit it into a category, it’s just ‘me’. It tests me, gets me trying new things and certainly doesn’t put me into a box which I love, but I can still put my stamp on things. I was so pleased recently to hear that a friend had visited her gym where I had a reception display. She knew instantly it was mine .. I hadn’t told her! I took that as a massive compliment 🤍 So, I guess your style is a reflection of you and exactly where you are at. It’s an evolution, something that should be tested and refined, stretching yourself, tweaking.
