How I Achieve maximum value and minimal waste
🌿Creating designs that can be repurposed or gifted to friends and family after the occasion (in this case, the church congregation) and encouraging people to do this if they want to.🌿Asking for everything back where possible - it would of been quite easy for someone to throw the plastic pot and chicken wire away, but I make it clear I’ll have it back and will use it again and again. 🌿Using floristry methods, such as the chicken wire above, as opposed to floral foam that is single use and would end up in landfill. 🌿Composting, or encouraging others to, compost all of the fresh materials. In a year’s time, these flowers will provide me with nutritious compost that will be used to grow the next season’s flowers. The perfect cycle. If you would like to know more about the eco-friendly practices I adopt to create maximum value and minimal waste, send me a message ♥️🌿 #britishflowers #composting #ecoflorist #cycleoflife #minimalwaste #funeralflowers #weddingflowers #farewellflowers #weddingflorist #florist #hildenborough #kent
A little flower bed update and a hello from Dougal ♥️ - everything is sort of where it should be now (I think?!) ready for winter.
Growing this year/next season is a huge experiment and I’m basically maki by it up as I go along with the help of books, Google and YouTube channels - so we will see what happens next spring!

This will change how you feel about everything 🤯…
Did you know that floristry is £1.4billion industry in the UK but over 85% of the flowers sold in this country are imported from across the world?
This involves industrial growing, chemical treatments, cold storage and long journeys ✈️
If you’re still thinking ‘so what?’… let me tell you a little more about British flowers - the most exquisite blooms that have SO much to give!
🌿Buying locally grown flowers supports our own flower farmers, growers and small businesses.
🌿Each stem is totally unique, full of vitality and movement where they have been allowed to develop naturally within their surroundings.
🌿Often they are grown organically, or without any chemical treatment or pesticides. Just good old nature.
🌿They smell incredible - do your supermarket flowers?
🌿When I get them on my bench, almost always a little bug will crawl out - they are supporting all kinds of important life and biodiversity as they grow.
🌿There are SO many varieties, colours and interesting flowers to choose from - many of them you may never even have seen before.
So, why would we import when we have something SOOOO good?
If I still haven’t changed your mind, come and see for yourself. Flowers from the porch will be out again this week - beautiful little bunches of British blooms. The perfect intro to your new obsession 😍 but they sell out quickly…
Comment below 🌿 and I’ll let you know before anyone else when they are going to be there!

📸 a roadside field found on my travels in Norfolk
I’m making a commitment going forwards to make my work much more planet friendly. This will be woven in on many levels but perhaps the biggest change is..
…cutting out single use plastics, floral foam (or Oasis) being the biggie…
It’s always been a niggle in the back of my mind - using one of the most natural and beautiful products to create something so stunning and hidden underneath it all is something that just.. isn’t 🤷🏼♀️
My sticking point was that I just couldn’t find anywhere that would give me enough information about and, therefore the confidence to use, other techniques - until I found Ali @ramblingstems that is.
I spent the day with her today - learning, experimenting and creating. It was soooo good to work alongside her and I cannot wait to implement what I learnt going forwards. Thank you Ali! 🤍🌿

Jumping on the March #meetthemaker trend (better late than never!) and today is.. #signaturestyle
My style is 100% an evolution. I can feel and see it developing with every single design I make at the moment and that is so exciting to me. When I opened Delilah and Herb not quite a year ago, I would have undoubtedly said my style is natural, wild, rustic. I never would have seen myself creating pieces like the one in the video. But I love doing both!
What I have learned is that my style is more about the flowers I use, the colours, the combinations, the placement, the shape, the textures, the feel - I can’t name my style or fit it into a category, it’s just ‘me’. It tests me, gets me trying new things and certainly doesn’t put me into a box which I love, but I can still put my stamp on things.
I was so pleased recently to hear that a friend had visited her gym where I had a reception display. She knew instantly it was mine .. I hadn’t told her! I took that as a massive compliment 🤍
So, I guess your style is a reflection of you and exactly where you are at. It’s an evolution, something that should be tested and refined, stretching yourself, tweaking. I’m definitely finding my feet within my style and I can’t wait to see where it will take me!

We’re always talking about our luxury flowers and if you’re wondering what that actually means, here’s what gives our flowers the ‘X factor’ …
🌿 THE FLOWERS - we use blooms that you won’t typically find on the high street. Interesting, unusual and seasonal varieties that give texture, colour, movement, fragrance and of course, a shed load of beauty. The flowers we use catch your eye, spark your interest and each have their very own ‘wow factor’.
🌿 THE DESIGN - every piece, from bouquets to large bespoke items, is carefully designed by Amy. With a sharp eye for detail, we make sure that our designs look and ‘feel’ just right, meeting the brief or occasion perfectly. Thought, care and a lot of love goes into every single creation.
🌿 THE QUALITY - we only buy the best flowers available, carefully selecting our growers and wholesalers. We buy fresh for every order giving you maximum vase life and enjoyment.
🌿THE CARE - when we receive all of our flowers, we spend time ‘conditioning’ - this means making sure all flowers are in top top condition, hydrated and carefully prepared before we work with them. This process not only ensures your flowers last for as long as possible but takes their beauty to the absolute next level.
🌿 THE SERVICE - as a small independent, every single order (big or small!) is important and valued. Our whole customer journey, from ordering to delivery, is a well oiled machine ensuring you receive the most beautiful flowers for your occasion with no fuss.
So there you have it - buying luxury flowers actually means that you are buying a whole lot of expertise, time, care, skill and love.. as well as some damn fine flowers.
You can see it all in every piece 🤍
