I'm a volunteer each week for an animal trust called Hakuna Matata who are based in Paignton and to raise funds I'm going to do a sponsored super sprint triathlon at the end of this month.

I'm so excited...This afternoon after I finished work I saw someone being arrested outside factory row on my way home and as the stars aligned I had a feeling it was the burglar from the other night so I parked the van at home and walked down and went over to the police officers and happened to know one of them and her 1st words were "we've just arrested him for your burglary Mr Roach"
I cannot thank Torquay Police enough for how absolutely fantastic they have been from the moment we realised we had been burgled up until now.
After spending 2 hours at the station giving a witness statement I'm going home for a celebratory Chinese knowing that Charlotte, Arlo and Oscar will sleep a little better this evening.
Thanks to everyone that shared the post and footage as it really helped to find him.

***A REMINDER OF OUR OUTDOOR BOOKING POLICY***

Below is our conditions we set out for all outdoor hires and the most important one to us is our stance on wind.

We are very strict that if the MET Office forecast is showing as wind gusts at 25mph or above we will NOT set up no matter what, as the HSE regulations are clear that inflatables cannot be operated in wind speeds of 25mph and above. (We will not be intimidated or pressured into taking a chance with the safety of anyone using our equipment).
From a moral point of view if something was to ever happen and we ignored a forecast, how would we give a reasonable explanation to a parent, the HSE or a Court Judge as to why we proceeded to hire and ignore a forecast that was given?

We will sleep easy at night knowing we won't take a chance with the wind which is what unfortunately causes deaths on inflatables.

The amount of lost income for us each year from cancelled bookings due to the wind runs into thousands of pounds, but we will always put safety before profit.

This is our stance here at Riviera Events and how other inflatable operators choose to interpret the HSE regulations is entirely up to them and their own risk assessments.

We always check historical data and the majority of the time the wind gust forecast is very accurate. Just remember it might not seem windy to you on the floor but at the height of the top of inflatables it will be windier.

Once inflated with a blower they are just big bags of air and very easy to lift by hand, hence why all the anchor points need securing into the grass with stakes or with 165kg of weight on each anchor point (7 sandbags on each anchor point if on hard standing, so about 1 tonne of weight in total).

RIVIERA EVENTS OUTDOOR HIRE POLICY

•All our outdoor bouncy castles are available to hire from April to September each year and subject to weather conditions, for any months outside of this please call 07467200292 to discuss your requirements.
•All outdoor bookings are subject to an additional fee of £10 on top of the inflatable hire price.
•If your inflatable is booked to be used in a hall the day after your booking then we reserve the right to change your bouncy castle and supply you with an alternative if it is due to rain on the day of your hire or the grounds are wet/muddy from any rain and weather conditions leading up to the day of your booking.
•We always regularly check the forecast in the week leading up to your hire date and will keep you well informed and give you the opportunity to find a hall of your choice if the weather isn't looking favourable.
•Upon booking we will require a picture of your garden and a picture/video of the access into the garden (i.e. driveway, steps etc.) These can be sent by Whatsapp to 07467200292. They will then be used to risk assess the booking.
•All outdoor bookings need to be on real grass (not artificial unless you want holes left in your grass from the pegs) and in an enclosed front/back garden, with outside access to the garden via a gate or a walkway round the side of the house. This is so they can be safely secured to HSE regulations.
•We ask that for when we arrive the access has been made clear in order for us to provide you with a timely quality service as we will not have time or are insured to move any obstructions in our way.
•We allow ourselves up to 30 minutes for a delivery/collection to set up/pack away safely.
•We cannot come through any houses with inflatables due to Insurance reasons, we need outside access to gardens via a gate/ alleyway etc. Garages are ok to come through but we need clear access through them.
•We will not set up if there are more than 5 steps into the set up area (if you haven't declared them to us previously and had them agreed by us).
•We will not setup up if we arrive and we cannot anchor all anchor points into grass.
•We will not set up if the area is not clear and ready for the inflatable.
•We will not set up if the surface is not level or not in a satisfactory condition (sharp objects, animal faeces, etc.)
•We won't set up in wind gusts are 25mph and above as this is against HSE Regulations, we will however move your booking fee onto a future booking as we obviously don't find you the customer to blame in this situation.

Lives are at risk in these conditions and an inflatable shouldn't be used if the wind speed gusts are 25mph and above (We always carry an anemometer to get an accurate measure of the speeds rather than just rely on a wind speed app to measure the wind speed via the microphone of a phone. The MET office app/website will be used for forecasts as to whether it will be possible to set up).

You will be left with an anemometer for the duration of your hire and you will be required to measure the wind every 30 minutes and record it on the log sheet provided.. as there is a tolerance of accuracy of +/-5% on the anemometer, 22mph or above on a reading will be our cut of point and our inflatables won't be used if the anemometer shows that reading of 22mph or above.
The hirer of any inflatable and equipment is responsible at all times to make sure their guests use the inflatable/equipment safely and in a proper manner and we always go through a safety briefing with you once the equipment has all been set up and leave you with safety instructions.
