The Triathlon England Awards are approaching. We have now been running at Torbay Velopark for a couple of years and it's introduced loads of people young & old to triathlon. One event sticks in our mind where we had three six year old & a grandmother in her seventies all taking on their first triathlon! Perhaps you saw the item on Donald Brooks Triathlete a couple of weeks ago on BBC Spotlight? If not there's a link to the BBC news story in the first comment. Since bursting onto the Age Group triathlon scene about 10 years ago, Don has won just about everything there is to win in his age group with quite a few overall wins along the way. He also regularly takes part in Sportiva Events triathlons as part of his preparation for bigger targets and is unbeaten at any of our triathlons. Here he is pictured at , giving some beginners & youngsters some tips on achieving the perfect transition. It's worth following Don on Strava even if just to see the level of dedication it takes to become a triathlon champion.

Alistair Brownlee who inspired generations of triathletes, has retired aged 36. He and his brother achieved massive things in triathlon over the years but I particularly remember the story behind this photo. Six months before the London 2012 Olympics, he suffered a bad achilles injury. He actually dug out the hole himself, in the front garden of the house he shared with brother Jonathan, to fit this continuous pool. It turned out to be the key to his recovery as he went on to an Olympic gold medal in London and another in Rio four years later. Chapeau to Alistair on an amazing career!

That's a wrap. The Sportiva Events season is over so we're catching up on admin & getting a few weekends back! We've endured some frankly appalling weather this year. Our back in February took place in comically wet conditions with precious little gravel to be seen beneath the mud! In March & early April there was mud-a-plenty for our run course at at the & Torbay Tri. Thankfully better weather arrived in time for our big summer triathlons & open water swims: Roadford Lake Triathlon & Swim , Dartmouth Triathlon & Swim & the closed road English Riviera Triathlon & swim. We took a break in August & enjoyed near perfect conditions for the in Sept. Unfortunately rain & wind returned with a vengeance later in September. We had three consecutive thorough soakings at the Dawlish Triathlon & Dawlish Swims, at our Moor2Sea Sportive & at our autumn , though thankfully rain held off for the kids races.
Just about all our 2025 events are now open for registrations, many of them with early bird booking offers! And what a season we have lined up with a new event ( ) and the return of the & the ultra sportive in May.
A big thank you to our staff & volunteers without whom these events would not be possible

Well done to everyone who took part in today's ! The weather was good and the sun even made an appearance at one point. Also a massive thank you to our marshals including the scouts from Paignton raising money for their Explorer badge trip next summer.

Wow, so many dogs signed up for the this weekend. We have over thirty for the Canicross 10K & about ten for the Canicross half marathon! We're expecting a lot of excitement on the start line. Humans without dogs are also allowed to race & we still have a few places left. Oh, and the forecast looks great for once!

This just popped up in our feed so we thought we'd share it. As it turns out the Lands End 100 weekend (14-15 Sept), where this photo was taken, was the only completely dry event of our entire Autumn season. Here are Dawn & John pictured in the camping field on the Friday evening. We all got completely drenched three weekends in a row after this at & (22 Sept), sportive (29 Sept) and (6th April). And we also got drenched at the two events just before ( & Swim at the end of August & the week before that. Hell, I even got completely soaked recce-ing the courses on Sun 8th Sept. So we're definitely hoping for some better weather next season. Pretty much all our 2025 events are now live on some website & there are some great offers on most of them

Headed down to Plymouth on Monday for a second recce of the Plymouth Triathlon bike courses. It was also a chance to test out the Cremyll ferry which whisks you across to Royal William Yard in just 8 minutes. We also met with the #plymouthtriathlonclub team as we're working with them to deliver the events this year. There's a middle distance triathlon, standard distance and a sprint plus swims running at the same time. Our Story

Our mission is to deliver excellent endurance sports events covering triathlon & duathlon, open water swimming, cycling & running.

We work to improve events each time we run them & that's one of the most challenging parts of the process. There is no perfect venue and dealing with landowners, traffic, councils, the general public & other stakeholders can be challenging.

Sportiva Events started as a hobby. After moving to Devon from the South East there didn’t seem to be any duathlons, my favourite multi-sport events, in the local area. I spotted a possible bike course on my door step and teamed up with Stewart Bergman and Rory Aitken to stage the first Dartington Duathlon in Spring 2013.

In 2017 Stewart decided to concentrate on his cycling Sportives and I took over the Dartmouth Triathlon and Devon Duathlon and added three existing events from the Torbay area originally set up by Brendon Prince.
