We hope you all enjoyed yesterday's Devon Grit in Exmouth and a big thank you to our volunteers. For the 5th year in a row we had great riding conditions. Our oldest finish in the Mini route yesterday was 79 and our youngest was 10. And the Mini course is no pushover with some tough climbs & some challenging terrain in its 44km. Killer, aka Catherine Kilburn, is well known on the local cyclocross & mtb scene & was doing the Extreme route with her sister. Her sister was on an e-mountain bike. I have to admit we were dubious whether the battery would last the course. And so it proved with sister Janet finding the last 20 miles extremely tough on a heavy bike with a flat battery! We also had a couple of keen triathletes from Torbay Tri Club taking part. Seems like all their funds have gone on fancy triathlon bikes & Ironman entry fees as the 26in MTBs they were riding looked like they belonged in a museum. We hope to see some of you at our next gravel event, taking place on Saturday 14th Sept, the same day as the road sportive.

Less than two weeks now until the return of & at Roadford Lake on 1st Sept & 31st Aug respectively.
We've also just launched our Loyalty Points scheme. It means you' get points for every event you book with us that can be converted into Event vouchers of up to £60!
To kick things off, we're offering points on the triathlons & double points on the Roadford Lake Swims. For the swims there's a choice of 5K, 2.5K, 1500m, 750m and 500m distances to suit all levels of swimmer. Roadford points end on Monday 26th August though so don't delay. Another great performance by Team GB to take bronze in the mixed team triathlon relay. Have to say it's a brilliant event to watch! And don't forget we organise an amateur mixed team relay in the Olympic format at Torbay Velopark. The next one is on Saturday 5th October: 300m pool swim, 7.5K bike, 1.8K run. Swim Bike Run is this Saturday at Torbay Velopark. It's just £5 to take part and open to all ages from 6 up. Choose your distance when you arrive. Swim Bike Run is like park run for triathlon and the perfect way to have a go before tackling one of our bigger events. Kids can take part on their own or with their families. What's more Frank Reay, one of the coaches from Torbay Triathlon Club will be there to give you some tips at 2pm before the event starts at 2.45pm. The link to register is in the first comment

Well done to all competitors at today's Plymouth Triathlon and Swims at Mount Edgcumbe. And a massive thank you to all our marshals and to Plymouth Triathlon Club who managed the swim and also supplied lots of volunteers. Despite the dismal weather forecast it was mostly dry all day and the swim was flat too. Live results on our website now.

A perfect day for course set up at the and . Water temperature will be 16-17C so wetsuits will be optional. It's a few hundred meters to run from swim to transition so you are welcome to leave shoes by the sea if you wish. See you all in the morning or later this afternoon if you're doing Saturday registration

Over to Torquay today to remeasure the run routes for the on Sun 30th June. We've managed to come up with routes that will be easy to follow, use plenty of the coast path & broadly follow our closed road bike course to maximise the rare tranquillity of a completely traffic-free morning in Torquay. See the first comment for a link to the maps. Oh, and our British Triathlon event permit just came through too!

Headed down to Plymouth on Monday for a second recce of the Plymouth Triathlon bike courses. It was also a chance to test out the Cremyll ferry which whisks you across to Royal William Yard in just 8 minutes. We also met with the #plymouthtriathlonclub team as we're working with them to deliver the events this year. There's a middle distance triathlon, standard distance and a sprint plus swims running at the same time. Little taster of Escot gravel. When we reccied in mid Jan the whole course was fully rideable. Depending on how much it rains in the next week, there may be one short climb that is very hard to ride unless you have the right tyre setup and can carry enough speed into it. MVDP would probably sail up it, ordinary mortals may struggle. Studs on your shoes will definitely help here! Our Story

Our mission is to deliver excellent endurance sports events covering triathlon & duathlon, open water swimming, cycling & running.

We work to improve events each time we run them & that's one of the most challenging parts of the process. There is no perfect venue and dealing with landowners, traffic, councils, the general public & other stakeholders can be challenging.

Sportiva Events started as a hobby. After moving to Devon from the South East there didn’t seem to be any duathlons, my favourite multi-sport events, in the local area. I spotted a possible bike course on my door step and teamed up with Stewart Bergman and Rory Aitken to stage the first Dartington Duathlon in Spring 2013.

In 2017 Stewart decided to concentrate on his cycling Sportives and I took over the Dartmouth Triathlon and Devon Duathlon and added three existing events from the Torbay area originally set up by Brendon Prince.
